Freddie doesn't hire sparring partners, he looks for up and coming prospects who are looking to prove themselves against elite fighters, he gets young and hungry fighters, not journeymen sparring partners who's whole reason for sparring is just to get paid, to add to that he pays them $1000 if they can knock his fighters down.

Our trainer does the same method. Except it's because it's less hassle and cheaper xD

Because alot of trainers are highly arrogant and stuck in their ways, and even if they wanted to they wouldn't be able to live with 'copying' some one elses training methods.

hmm says... it's easier for Roach cause hey... he's got the Pacman and I'm sure other boxers would like to test their skills and meet his highness. So when the opportunity is presented by Roach, I'm sure these boxers would jump on the opportunity. Also that $1,000 KD incentive really helps :yep

Because it's easier for Roach, all sorts of fighters flock towards his gym.

I'm sure other boxers would like to prove themselves against Cotto, Hatton, Berto, Pavlik etc.

Cotto is in Pr, hatton is in Uk, don't know about the other two. But it's kind of like those guys on the street who think boxing is something that anyone can do. So they get cocky and think they can take on the #1 PvP fighter

Why don't all fighters fight like Ali?

All depends on the trainer, the knowledge and how he sends the information. Roach and Pac understand each other very well and whatever Roach tells Pac his student listens and immediately looks to apply. Not all trainers have the ability to communicate that way, that's what makes one unique/expensive.

well i wasn't talking about the chemistry between fighters and trainers, i said why dont more trainers use Freddie Roaches sparring selection method, one which he uses for all his fighters.

I'm sure there are up and coming prospects who would kill to prove themselves against cotto and hatton, and i dont think a trip over to puerto rico is too hard, and for Hatton there are plenty of top up and comers in the UK.

I spose you need a fairly deep talent pool in the gym also , Pac is a very nice dude all round , I get the feeling that if you sent some kid in against the likes of Cotto ( for example ) with the instruction to go after him and try and knock him down the youngster could get badly hurt.

but youre right on the whole it does seem the way to do it

Ali used ( amongst others ) a young Larry Holmes in the build up to Foreman , now thats some quality sparring !

hmm says... I guess you can say, Roach is like the Oprah of trainers.. Once you've established a connection with him, I'm sure he'll be willing to help you out in the future in return.
