I'm just curious because it seems like an interesting job. I understand that he gives his advice to fighters, but there's got to be more to it than that. I don't know. Never really understood the role of a guy labeled an adviser. Ellerbe is a perfect example. It use to be promoter/manager/trainer. Now it's promoter/manager/adviser/trainer
Leon is a douche...his role as an "advisor" is to use his site to big up his favorites. In return the fighters wear one of his t-shirts and let him hang around so he feels special. "Sanders-RJJ signed and sealed!!!"
Greg offers other white boys who would like to be Zab Judah-lite on the proper way to wear their hat backwards, talk like an OG and generally leak information before it's actually solid, or even factual....remember where you heard it first...
The main difference is that an "advisor" does not have to be licensed like a manager does, therefore the position has no oversight from any boxing commission. In Florida, like most states, fighter-manager contracts have to be sent to the commission for approval. And if a manager has their license suspended for anything, all their contracts die.
Only thing I heard Greg Leon advise was to tell Allan Green not to accept a career high payday to fight Lucian Bute. Make of that what you will.
It can be an asset, it just depends on the person. I am an "advisor" to several fighters, because it is against the law for me to hold both a promoters license and a managers license at the same time. Why that is I have no idea, but thats the way it is. I dont think a fighter needs BOTH a manager and and advisor, because its basically the same position.
How do you break in? Does it usually start with knowing & working with a fighter & than eventually, your empire grows over time, YEARS i'm assuming.
They took it down , Leon started blasting the members and few moderators etc. The original Moderator and posters went on to create another forum page.
And he listened? Again? Same thing happened with Pavlik FFS. I guess Miranda knocked all the sense out of that Green boy....
