It's fine if you didn't know that, I'd only heard from internet posters at first about Pryor's managerial problems and then I started reading old articles on SI and heard about some of his offers (Duran, SRL) that fell through.

But I'm serious about the whole "calling out" process. People make way too much of it. It really doesn't mean much at all, it's just for publicity.

myself being a huge Hawk fan, as great as he was, we didn't get to see enough of him. i would of liked to of have seen him fight more quality fighters than an old, aging cervantes and the great arguello who started as a featherweight. just one level below leonard and duran, but he would of made it very close entertaining fights

Pryor, should of went up to 147 like littlel duran did. Pryor, is a fighter we won't see for years. damn it Duran, Ray, Pryor, Hearns, Man them four would wipe the floor today.

The 2nd part of your sentence is true.

For me, this is exactly the same question as who would win between Jones and Calzaghe.

You have one man who was a very good champion in his division, who had moments in his career where he looked excellent, but although his record is beyond reproach and indicates to the casual fan that he was incredibly difficult to beat, his resume is not stellar by any means and so there remains question marks about his ability to operate against ATG class fighters. (applies to Aaron and Joe - IMO Aaron being a better fighter in his favoured weight class)

You have another man who was one of the most talented fighters of all-time. He convincingly defeated a couple of the biggest names and best fighters in and around his weight division, he proved his skills across several weight divisions, and despite some bad nights when he was past his prime, his high points/achievements and the ability he showed at his peak mark him as a truly special fighter. (applies to Ray and Roy - Ray of course being clearly superior)

Now, like Bill suggests, the debates can run forever and a day, but one guy is a clear level or two above the other and even though they were both champions in the same era and both had their top performances, there is only one answer here.

I have drawn the parallel many times between Leonard-Pryor and Jones-Calzaghe, this was an opportunity to explain my opinion on Leonard-Pryor with a little analogy. :D

Sorry not all my posts are as blunt and dull as yours: "Jones could beat Adamek for the cruiserweight title coz he stopped Omar Sheika". Great work. :-(

Wow 25-2 lol. Only way Pryor takes Leonard is if Ray weight drained down to 140 lbs in his prime, even that wouldnt be a sure thing. At 147 or 154 lbs Ray put boxes Pryor to a 15 round UD: (10-3-2).
