Great punchers who relied more on technique than power

Arguello is probably tops. He was almost frail yet he could really knock a guy into dream land.

I think most good punchers use great technique to generate power.

My pick is Arguello personally.

I actually did, was still suprised so many others did tho.
Only thing Alexis lacked was speed but the accuracy cancelled that **** right out.

 

To be quite honest with you, most punchers that I recall had/have rather good technique. I mean some were technically better than others, but it is still hard for me to say what was the more determining factor.

Ricardo Mayorga might be the person I could say at the opposite end of the spectrum. George Foreman could use a mention there as well.

 

Technique = Power, this thread makes no sense.

I agree though that most great punchers are technically sound when punching.

An exception was George Foreman. He could throw shots the right way but often was sloppy and just let his amazingly heavy hands do the damage, wrong form or not.

 

...add lightweight champ joe brown to this list...

 

Ricardo Lopez is another guy not yet mentioned. And he had picture perfect uppercuts with both hands/right hand/left hook.

 

Who didn't tho. Arguello is the absolute epitome of this.

 

I'm beginning to see that Aguello was the best puncher.
