who was the greatest at parrying pucnhes. The ability to block pucnhes with the gloves. For instance, when somebody jabs you with the left handyou bring you right hand to your face to "catch" or block the punch. Great fighters who do this well is obviously Winky Wright who's defense is predicated on blocking. Bernard Hopkins is also a parrying master thats what his defense consists off and with his ability to slip side to side. Who in the history of boxing was the greatest or who were the greatest at this technique.
Jack Johnson was maybe the finest, Duran got better at it as he grew in maturity as a lightweight and welterweight.
yes jack johnson..one of the greatest heavyweights ever...easily in my opinion the finest defensive fighter ever..he parryed pucnhes and made fighters look stupid just to prolong the beatdowns he gave...any more suggestions..
Its easier to parry when you're strictly defensive minded..... .....but to do it while looking to mount an offense???? In my almost 30 years of watching the sport, I've never seen a better Parry'er than Julio Cesar Chavez......I swear it looked like he was nonchalantly blocking the advances of a weak child when he was parrying off shots from a formidable puncher.... .....Chavez was just an incredible parry'er.
