I agree. This guy is unique. I first saw him about 18 months ago use ju-jitsu to sub some hapless opponent with a weird shoulder-arm choke. It seemed so effortless, almost like an exhibition but it was a real fight. I knew this guy was special and very well rounded in his fighting techniques. Still, I never figured he'd blast out Evans, an excellent striker himself, with such ease. He's got it all.

Machida's strikes are Karate, just because someone uses closed fists doesn't mean it is boxing.

    http://mmamania.com/2008/07/09/anderson-silva-claims-the-205-pound-title-belongs-to-lyoto-machida/

I remember seeing this somewhere else almost a year ago. It is the reason that I wanted Evans to win earlier tonight. I have always wanted to see Silva face Pierre, then see how far he could go above 185. If Silva could win at 205, a fight against Fedor may not seem so unrealistic. Fedor is only 20 or so pounds heavier than the 205lb limit. That would be far more likely than Silva vs. Lesnar, since Lesnar cuts to make 265.

Anderson Silva vs Machida could happen, if they both continue to clean out their division, you think Dana White would not want them to fight? It would be huge money. The fans will demand it and UFC will force them to fight.

    Those were standard punches.

**** all to do with Karate technique.

Evans left himself wide open and Lyoto just went ape **** on his arse with a load of standard punches.

ive trained in karate for 7 years...and what Machida is doing is combining many elements from other fighting styles...the side stace is not just karate, there are many tecniques combined.

A karate fighter, who solely trained In karate would fail miserably in MMA....karate does not teach grappling. period.

Machida is a good all-around fighter, he is not just a Karate fighter.

You see this is the point in Martial Arts. Stick to what you do best and compliment that with other aspects of MA. Machida has a Karate style that almost everyone flipped off. They say the traditional Martial Arts are nonsense in MMA. But Martial Arts is what this sport is all about.

Machida is by far the best striker in MMA.

How have i been proven wrong?

None of the punches Machida used to ko Evans had that Karate flavour on them and his style is a combo of many because he's a mixed martial artist.

He uses Karate techniques but let's forget which striking style is the best and which fighter is the best. :deal

Why do you think that K-1's greatest fighter's like Aerts, Hooste and Por. Pramuk are the best of all time?

    Muay Thai baby. :deal

Anderson's style is better than Machida's. :good

I'm tired of this tuffnutz puttz already. Machida is a karate expert saying that doesn't mean he is "solely" a karate guy. You seem to think A. Silva is "solely" using Mauy Thai I don't think you understand even what you yourself are saying. Both Machida and Silva are MMA fighters but their base is different. Machida set the whole fight up with his karate then finished it by going ape **** on rashads face.
