any foughts on this guys? if he beats pacman what does it do for his legecy?

is there any point of Floyd fighting Pacman ? or will people still discredit Floyd and say he picked on little guy?

I think hes better of not fighting Pacman and face the following fighters.

    at 147 Cotto & Mosley

    154 Paul Williams

If he beats Pacquiao, it means he has one single solitary truly GREAT win on a very underwhelming resume.

Good win. But because of the weight difference, there are more meaningful fights for him.

He needs to fight mosley cotto and margorito to truly prove something. But pacquio is no easy win with his speed and power at low 140's. It would be a credible win if floyd won but not truly welterweight greatness. if floyd manned up and beat mosley cotto and cheater no one could say **** but he is the man. I do think that he will follow roy jones career though and say hes the best but never prove it.

I think if he beats mosely it would be far far more meaningful as he is a welterweight.

DLH at 154 alone is something that should have been beyond a man of Mayweather`s size... pure boxing skill won him that fight & no-one can say Oscar never showed up for that fight, he was ready alright.

Mayweather aint as good as he himself has claimed in the past but `very underwhelming` is too harsh. He`s a legitimately great fighter.

He would have beaten a great fighter, most consider to be the best of this era, in his prime. Something he has not done.

'Underwhelming' refers to his resume - and it is.

Sorry, but sneaking an SD after a languid, lethargic and thoroughly unimpressive performance against a clearly past-prime Oscar who was devoid of any venom in his punches or the stamina to maintain his workrate for 12 rounds is not a great win. It's not even a very good win. I'd put that firmly in the good category. Oscar started out at sfw, looked at his best at lww, and was well out of his depth at mw - he was not a natural lmw by any means. Many guys I have spoke to in the Classic actually think Oscar was small at ww, compared to naturals like Trinidad and Quartey. Floyd started out at the same weight as Oscar, sfw, and he had been fighting at ww for some time before moving up one division. Sorry, it genuinely was not a career-defining fight or anything of the sort. Good win. Definitely not as good as Corrales or Castillo II.

good to hear theres no floyd haters in here yet lol

what about JMM i think its a very good first fight to have after a lay off...

i give floyd credit, the weight issue is silly floyd isnt even a big welterweight...

End of the day JMM called floyd out and he would have had to go up in weight... i think people are under estimating JMM!!

floyd hardly uses his weight against his fighter.

floyds skill wins the fight.. not his weight hes not a power puncher exactly.

The fight helps Floyd's pockets more than it does his legacy. It would still none the less be an impressive feat to dethrone the recognized p4p best.

Come on floyd fans just admit it you wish he would fight the best welter weights too. Its ok to like the guy and think hes the best but don't take up for him time and time again when he disapoints and does'nt fight the best fighters in his weight class.

it wont hurt him but it will draw criticism since pacman is smaller. I agree that his better off fighting mosley-cotto and p.will

Virtually cleaning out 130, beating the 2 best fighters of their era at 130 and 135, then becoming the recognized welterweight champ, then beating the champ at 154, then beating what many believed to be the best 140lb fighter in the world, while he was undefeated and coming off a stoppage win over luis Castillo, is not underwhelming. Being 18-0 in title fights against the comp Mayweather faced is not underwhelming.

Floyd won clearly. 8-4 if you know how to score a fight. You could possibly score it 7-5 if you were totally biased towards Oscars ineffective flurries.

Oh and Bhop's greatest wins were against Welterweights and guys moving up to meet him at his already established weight class. Tito, Oscar, Winky, all Welters/lightmiddleweights that had to move up to face the bigger Hopkins. Floyd however has been the smaller fighter most of his career. this is why his resume is considered stronger. Stop drinking the kool aid, nobody would ever mention Hop in the same vain as Floyd if not for the Pavlik victory, who also was moving up 2 weight classes.

So you don't think he has any great wins on his resume even at 130 and 135? wow!
