of course everyone should have an opinion, that's what forums are for. I just don't see the point in mocking Mundine because of his skin colour. I'm sure there are plenty of other things to criticize him for.

The term "blacks" has often been applied to Indigenous Australians. This owes more to superficial physiognomy than ethnology, as it categorises Indigenous Australians with the other, unrelated black peoples of Asia and Africa. In the 1970s, many Aboriginal activists, such as Gary Foley proudly embraced the term "black", and writer Kevin Gilbert's ground-breaking book from the time was entitled Living Black.

    also:
In recent years young Indigenous Australians – particularly in urban areas – have increasingly adopted aspects of Black American, African and Afro-Caribbean culture, creating what has been described as a form of "black transnationalism."

Ok, simple question: What color does mundines skin tone look to you?

It sure as hell doesn't look black to me!

Now obviously i am acutely aware that he is aboriginal and has aboriginal blood, but, that does not take away from the fact that his skin tone is anything but black

And last i checked, by definition black is a color is it not?

Let me give you an example in relation to what you said above. Take Barack Obama: a man who is half white, half black. His skin tone: black. However, because he is half white and has 50% white blood, would it make sense to call him the great white president? Of course not. The reason? His skin is black. And this is much the same reason i think mundine calling himself the black superman is an ill fitting moniker, yes he is aboriginal, but his skin looks rather pale to me.

Again, this is not a racist dig, i am simple stating that he certainly does not look black (again, yes, i do recognise he is of aboriginal heritage) and thus, in my opinion, black superman as a moniker seems a rather poor choice

But, each to there own and whatever makes him happy i guess

jeez, i don't want to make a big deal out of this, it doesn't bother me that much, but you don't seem to get, do you?

"Black" is a cultural term, referring to his ethnicity. Mundine is black. It really isn't a hard concept to understand is it? Gimme strength.

By definition its actually a shade:yep

You can interpret it however you like, and understandably he does not have dark skin. But in Aus, as has been said before, Aboriginals use to be reffered to as Blacks. Considering he is a Role model in the Black (aboriginal) community, and he uses himself to continually outline issues within Australia in relation to Aboriginals. His "moniker" seems very relevant to me.

doesnt matter if he refers to himself as black or whatever hes of aborigonal stock which he is proud of and fair play to him

however my question is why does he need to assume both

    a/ and amercian accent

b/ african american inner city culture

If he really cared about aborigonal rights he wouldnt be acting like a scumbag, more as a beacon for his community, encourage education etc....................

he however thought that rap music was the appropriate vehicle to convey his message about his own circumstances and gripes

Looking at that color chart I'd go with the unfortunately named buckskin.

Not in the way we use the term. BTW Anthropology is the most ridiculously outdated social science, it is almost as marginalised as Eugenics in terms of credibility. Either way anthropology is not a natural science, its asertions cannot be tested in the same manner as the hard sciences. Race is a concept of convenience we use to categorise people, not as hard scientific species. What race is a person with decendants from the areas we call Nepal, Nigeria, New Zealand, Germany and Korea? Anyway, that **** is boring. Lets talk about people punching each other in the face.
