Yes, seven years earlier when the Mexican was in his prime...Woods boxed the **** off of Gonzalez both times he faced him, power isn't everything.
Clinton looked sharp against Muriqi I thought. It wasn't him there against Tarver and he was embarrassing, that don't make him shot though. My biggest worry with this is what desire does Woods have to scale the 'heights' again? Cloud's got to have the hunger here and Woods has barely fought so I'd favour Cloud to win. Has Clinton still go that WBC tattoo that I'm sure he had before. Makes it funny to see how many IBF fights he's had (I think he's got one of them as well)
Cloud hasn't fought for nearly a year.....Woods has a very good chin but look to Cloud to win a decision based on aggresion, or stop Woods late. Woods will freeze anyway. Cloud needs to be more active, and defend that IBF title with vigour, and try and convince Chad to fight him.
Some of the comments here seem a little unfair to me. Clinton's a good solid pro and deserves this shot in my opinion. After all, he was the IBF's champion for some years before losing on points to Tarver. How far down the rankings does that loss shove him? He beat Muriqi in an eliminator and in convincing fashion. Maybe he's just not fashionable enough for some of you. For the record I think he'll win it if he gets the fight over here. Cloud's record reads similarly to that of Rico Hoye, who was also widely fancied to beat the Sheffield man whose boxing is oft underrated. Good and solid. Perfect description of Clint for me. His career is a testament to what determination can do. Shame he doesn't travel at all well!
And if he's now reaching the stage where he's a "gatekeeper" then that's exactly the kind of opponent Cloud needs to prove himself. Good fight.
I give Woods a real chance if he boxes as he can. Don't think he's shot. It was later discovered that he was suffering with a strain of meningitis when he fought Tarver. Explains a lot!!
Have you seen Clouds fights? If so lets have some imput from you. For a Yorkshireman, you aint very supportive. But then again your are from the no2 city Leeeeeeeeeds.
Well look at it like this...Muriqui got a bad decision v Tarver. Woods was terrible against Tarver. Woods outclassed Muriqui. So Woods aint shot at all. Everyone is entitled to a bad day at the office. Every thread i read is Chad wont give Johnson a re-match blah, blah, blah. Woods went to war 3times with Johnson,no ducking n diving.Woods n Johnson are the only 2 LHWeights who aint ducked nobody.
