Toney could certainly talk enough **** in 17 days to build-up the fight. And, Wlad would almost definitely KO him, which would make the Germans happy. But, this will never happen though.

Goossen - who seems to be back in as Toney's promoter given the circumstances - actually claims that Toney is in shape. Recent interviews indeed showed a somewhat slimmed down Toney, I however doubt that he can build up his conditionning to go 12 hard rounds and be ready by fight night...

Hey, I'll watch this fight just so there's something to watch on 20 June. I don't want to watch 12 rounds of zombies though, Toney's only chance of winning is to just let loose with big bombs in the 1st or 2nd round and hope to get lucky.

Make it happen. He's recognized and at the end of his career so he has nothing to lose anyway. I'm a big fan of James to and lets not kid ourselves anyone out of who is available they put in front of Wlad he's going to knockout easily. It might as well be someone with a name. Toney is probably never going to have a big fight like this again and he'll be able to go to Burger King for as lmany times as he wants after.

I hope this fight doesn't happen. Toney is a fat, 5'9 HW midget with no power, no workrate, a defensive style which Wlad always did best against, and to make it worse, an iron chin that will see him take a horrible, one-sided beating... probably very similar to the Brewster re-match. Jab, jab, right hand, grab, Toney lunges but miss, jab, jab, etc.. boring match although it would be nice to see Toney put his mouth where his money is, or, put his body where his mouth is all the time. But a guy like Dimintrenko or Povetkin would be much better.

This fight would be a joke...the guy just got beaten by Osquendo!!!

We might as well roll out Tyson and say it'll be a good fight because I don't think Toney even makes the top 15 HW's right now!!!

I've got such a bad feeling this is the fight that will come to fruition!!!

Toney was already beaten twice by a guy whom Wlad has beaten 4 years ago.

    It's a nonsense fight.

So when will we know who will be the substitute? The fight is practically 2 weeks away so we should know soon.

I don't think Toney can be KO'd, which is not a good thing. My uncle died from his inability to be knocked out.

I would be concerned for him. He's not knocking either Klit out, and will get chronically wrecked from 12 rounds with them.

I'd like to see him be the litmus test for Arreola though.

BTW, how ****in old is " lights out"?

I'd be very surprised if this happened, but I would definitely like to see it.

I want to see this fight happen, even if I don't think Toney can beat Wlad at this point, no matter in what good shape he may be in. This isn't 2004 anymore.
However, if Toney is indeed in good shape, I think he'd be more competitive than Haye, who has a glass chin and who basically just had a punchers chance anyway, regardless of his big mouth. Toney has never been stopped, or being close to being stopped, in 80 pro fights, many of these against big punchers, and should Wlad be the first man to stop James it will not be an easy thing to do. Toneys style will prove difficult to handle for Wlad.

What really surprised me is that Goossen is still working with Toney after they split. Since Arreola isn't ready and Thompson already fought Wlad, I guess Goossen has no other option than to rely on good old Toney again, while Toney needs Dans help here as his own Lightsout promotions isn't big enough to land such a fight.
