yep, he already 'spoiled' a boxing event in Germany, when he ruined Axel Schulz big comeback fight.

Oh wait now, actually Schulz beat himself that evening by refusing to fight while Minto was just his mediocre self - but that was more than enough...

Nobody here said Toney would beat Wlad with ease. However there are easier options for Wlad out there. I believe Wlad would beat Toney at this point, but IF Toney turned up in shape he could still give Wlad a tough fight and make him look bad. You never know.

While it has been said that every great fighter has one more great fight left in him, I am wondering why Toney performed so poorly against Sam Peter in the rematch? According to the pre-fight propaganda Toney had been training hard and was in shape.

Correct!!! Toney has not been a top fighter for a hell of a long time now...and has only looked good at HW once.

Might as well give Tyson a shot!! Remember this guy got a gift in his last fight against the mighty Fres Oquendo!!!

Yep, that's what we got told, but the truth is Toney focused on losing weight with his idiotic conditioning coach at the time, Billy Blanks, while he neglected proper sparring. You can see he had no timing or balance whatsoever in the rematch, and that cost him the fight. Ironically he was one pound heavier than in the first fight too.

Freddie Roach also said that Toney had caught the flu for the rematch with Sam Peter..

Bull****, he looked good more than once. And he didn't get a gift against Fres Oquendo, that fight could've gone eitehr way... not that same old discussion again.

Maybe Toney doesn't deserve a title-shot, but who else did the last couple of years? Did Hasim Rahman deserve a title-shot? Does David Haye deserve a title-shot? He's less proven at HW than Toney.

The word among well placed boxing insiders -- including a couple that I have talked to personally -- is that Toney is known to be a shot fighter who is looking to cash out with a final big payday. It's ridiculous to think that he could trouble the Klitschkos in any kind of way.

Even at his best, several years ago, Toney would have been overwhelmed by either Klitschko.

No one has been able to overwhelm Toney including Peter who knocked down Wlad three times in twelve rounds. Why would you automatically assume that Wlad would overwhelm Toney a guy who only put down Toney once in twentyfour rounds?

Which says it all really. Ruiz would rather try for a lesser belt than a shot at being The Man, perhaps because he really doesn't believe he could do it.

You're right about Toney too - here in the UK, the hardcore fans know him of course but to the casual audience he's a complete unknown. Very few boxers are public figures here, even less so for non-UK fighters.

Well if we're working under that premise Pac didn't deserve a title shot at Hatton as he's never fought at LWW - stupid comment.

Toney is a shell of his former self and is not even a top 15 HW...it's obvious to see your a fan, but there are plenty of more deserving HW's out there. And while I agree that the likes of Rahman didn't deserve the shot, it doesn't make it right that Toney gets one just because he used to be a good boxer!!!

If you want Toney to fight Wlad don't moan about the state of the HW division because you're contributing towards it.

And you've said futher up about the 2nd Peter fight being an anomoly, but Toney has lokked horrible since then, whilst Peter has been beaten around!!!

Arreola is never in shape though, even with preparation. If you give him a window he'll just try to order a double cheeseburger at it.
