If Pacquiao Fights Mosley it should be at 147lbs, Screw this catchweight Sh*t

If Mosley wants to compete in a fight for some mythical pound for pound title, which doesn't even make sense anyway, he should arrange a catchweight to try to come up with something fair considering Manny is the naturally smaller guy. But frankly you can't really fight the PFP championship with guys that are natural at different weights. Doesn't make sense. It's, by definition, a mythical title.

If Manny loses to Mosley at Mosley's natural weight (say 147), that doesn't (necessarily) mean Mosley is a better PFP fighter; it just means he is the better Welterweight. Heck Manny was fighting at feather and super feather pretty recently.

At some point some the great PFP fighters just reach too high. Even Ray Robinson eventually konked out at light heavy, although that was almost entirely due to the heat. But even if Joey Maxim had clearly decisioned Ray, would Maxim have then become the PFP greatest of his day? No.

However, all of the above is not really important. What is important is bargaining power. Manny has it and can probably dictate these terms. If Mosley wants to fight the former flyweight champ, he'll have to do it at a catchweight.

 

Shane went to Roach and asked for the fight. I started a lot of **** for saying Pac 'cherry picked' with his fight with Oscar, but that is what happened. Roach said he knew Oscar couldn't pull the trigger. Even if Oscar hadn't lost strength draining down, he still wouldn't have gained speed if he hadn't.

Saying Pac and Roach cheated to Oscar by draining weight are ****ing ******s, Oskie has a nutritionist anyway and its jst 3 pounds south when he fought Steve Forbes before Pac. But being a Pacfan i want Pac to fight Mosely @147, i believe even at this weight Pac can beat this guy. Pac by UD!!!

**** yes! Death to catchweights! If the only way a fight could take place is at a catchweight, then it's a sign that the fight shouldn't be taking place at all.

 

Pac is also willing to fight even at 147, its just Roach want to have all the advantage.

 

Mosley wants pacman...if you do not want catchweights, then fight should be at 140.

 

i understand what roach is doing, but it would say something about manny if he took on some elite guys a 147...i see floyd DEMANDING 147 if he fights pac.

What makes 147 the magic number? Its not like the body works in weight classes...it can either make 140 or 147...lol.

 

Precisely because Pac is not a welterweight. He is not comfortable to fight at l47 just as Mosley is not comfortable at l40. They have to meet at a certain weight to preclude undue advantage a certain fighter. Catchweight is a leveler in boxing.

 

I agree,but its not gonna happen,Pacquiao only fought Dela hoya at 147 cuz they knew he waz shot,but they seen what Mosley did 2 antonio margarito and they know for dam sure hes not shot,so they gonna make him lose a couple of pounds so Pacman could have the advantage

 

It's the welterweights that seeking desperately to fight him. Not the other way around. If they want to fight him, they should go down at l40 or at a catchweight which is but fair.
