All that Valuev needed to do was get a simple vaccination, and he refused to do so. Wlad said that he has no problem taking the vaccine.
as a previous poster said. comes down to don king. chagaev said a million times he's cleared to fight. fact was don king never wanted this fight to take place. he doesnt own ruslan. instead he wants the "interim champ" valuev to face another one of his boys ruiz.
I still don't understand then how is it beneficial for Don King? How would he make money? Especially from Valuev vs Ruiz. Who is going to watch that fight? Its not interested for boxing fans and especially it is not interesting to general people, so if no one watches how is he going to make money?
beleive me there are some idiots in germany and russia that will watch it. atsch fans of a a freak show. Ruiz is the second most boruing fighter ever behind Valuev and he actually beat him twice already and screwed but the judges hahaha worst fight possible but you know King. I hate to anticipate someones death but King and Arum are really getting up there and could croke anyday which very well might do a lot of good for boxing.
Chagaev WAS healthy, and still is healthy. The Finland medical authorities gave Chagaev a blood test that searched for Hepatitis antigens (i.e., something the body produces in response to having the Hepatitis virus). The problem is that antigens can stay in the blood long after the disease is gone. Chagaev tested positive for antigens, so they wouldn't let him fight unless Valuev got a vaccine. Valuev spooked out, and cancelled the fight. In Germany, presumably, they test for viral load (i.e., whether the virus itself is present) instead of antigens, and his blood test should come out ok.
At first I though Chagaev health was the reason for cancelling his bout with Valuev. However, now after Klit is OK fighting with him, looks like Valuev is the one that needs to be stripped of the title, as Nico was obviously full of ****. Let's be honest here, Valuev never chose to fight anyone half decent. The fact he even fought Chagaev to begin with (and got his behind handed to him) was because Ruslan was mandatory. Valuev likes to fight Owen Beck, Barret, old MacCline, ancient Hollifiled (who actually surprisingly almost defeated Valuev) types of opponents. Now he had to face Chagaev again, because it was mandated, not because he wanted to fight a good fighter all of the sudden. So, he just took a copout to remain champ, so he did not have to fight Chagaev again. If Chagaev's condition reall was dangerous to another boxer, why would Klit, #1 guy and 2 belt holder, chose to fight him? Chagaev is no Tommy Morrison. It's that Valuev saw an easy way to avoid figting a good fighter and keep the belt. If WBA has any decency left, they need to strip Valuev of a title for the reason of pulling out of mandatory fight without legitimate reason, and mandate Chagaev - Klit as a fight for WBA championship. Then have Valuev fight Areola or whoever is the next in line for being a challenger to the title.
finland cancelled that bout they said they wouldnt let anyone with even minor amount of hep b showing fight in their country it is a liability issue for them
Half True. a friend of mine has had hep b for several years now, the disease never goes away it can go dormant but is still infectious even then and even with the vaccine there is still a minor risk of being infected (nothing is 100% with vaccines). finland and valuev whichever cancelled was perfectly within their rights of cancelling the fight.
That's true but Don King wanted the fight in Finland because he knew Chagaev wouldn't pass the test & Valuev wouldn't have to lose to him again. King owns half the rights to Valuev & all the rights to Ruiz, which is why King wanted Ruiz to get the fight instead. This way it was a win/win for King.
