Exageration of what? I just gave examples of great weight gain. That's all. I know Clottey was 156 with Judah and 158 with Gutierrez.
The heaviest I've ever seen him come in at 147 was against Oktay Urkal, where he weighed 159 and looked fat. He looked much lighter against Gomez, Margarito, and Jennings, though no fight night weights were given for those fights. It would be interesting to see what tomorrow nights fight nights weights are. But I don't think it's allowed in New York anymore since Gatti-Gamache. I can't remember the last time a fight at MSG had fight night weights.
He's always like that when it's time to fight, I remember Mosley trying to give props to Cotto after each round and Cotto just ignored him.
Cotto has been on an organic diet.....after the weigh in he began drinking his shake....typically he eats soup afterwards to begin hydrating. He says he is in the best shape of his life and extremely focused. Can't wait for tomorrow...
Because they have an advantage thats why they do it. Most would still do it even if the weigh in was changed to the same day of the fight.
Just as a bit of a follow on but still on point - What would you consider normal routine for getting down to that kind of weight? Is it normally just dehydration and no food/urine in the body or more than that? And what do people do when they just cant shift the extra pounds,,,the extreme stuff? I remember Roach commenting Oscar had fresh intravenous marks for his fight against Pac,, is that taking away blood to get down? Any other weird techniques?
Stop eating/drinking the day before the weigh in. Doing exercise to sweat it out. Or sitting in a suana and drying yourself out.
