    How can this be?

I thought the Ring Championship could only be lost in the ring (no pun intended).

As they jimmied the rules to get Vitaly the belt against Sanders, surely he still has the belt?

Or did they take it away when he retired, and somehow not give it back when he 'un-retired?'

I think when Vitali was out for four years, they took the Ring title away, and I guess when he returned, even in such grand and dominating fashion, they still don't see him as THE man, anymore, with Wladimir biting at his heels, now. ( and some say, surpassing him)

He hated Tyson because of what he tried to do to his niece.

Why on earth would someone just be given the Ring Magazine Title after being retired for 4 years?

I guess if Lennox Lewis came back and fought Monte Barrett he would immediately be given back the Ring Belt too? You have to earn it.

In reality, the ring mag already dropped the ball and Wlad should already be the Ring Champ. It was pathetic how they didn't move him into position after beating Sam Peter... then Wlad knocks out the #1 ranked Chris Byrd... .then they rank Wlad #1 and a few months later Sam Peter is sitting at #2.:patsch

    Yes.

Wladimir will fight against Ruslan Chagev for the Ring belt.

And rumors are Valuev was hurt so he could not fight in Finnland and Sauerland Event protected him and makes this **** with Chagaev. Just read it in german newspapers.

Yep, just relax. :D As I said previously, the guides will probably take a few days to update on DISH, DirecTV, etc...

Why on earth would somebody be given the Ring belt for beating Corrie Sanders? ;) Just as fair a question.

Or why would they allow their light heavy belt for years to go in a circle jerk of old light heavies like Tarver, Jones, Johnson and Hopkins?

I agree with you about the Ring belt. It parades itself as being some form of super system far superior to the ABC's, but really, it's more of a popularity contest slanted at selling magazines.

I don't have a problem with magazines handing out plaudits, I mean, Womens Weekly has a Bachelor of the Year prize, but I think that people get carried away with just how much it means.

With or without the Ring belt, it is the best possible match-up under the current circumstances. Both fighters deserve credit for taking the fight on a short notice, especially Wladimir who should adapt to a southpaw.

For 5 pm ET, my guide still doesn't show the fight listed. It's 5 days away.

This is starting to worry me now. :verysad

The FI officials canceled the fight before Valuev could decide.

In Germany the level of Hepatitis antigenes counts. If very low the fighter is allowed to fight. In Finland an infection risk higher than 0 leads to a cancellation.

It was not a Don King "play" as they didn't contract a standby late replacement opponent for Valuev. The expenses & lost profits for the Don King & Sauerland joint venture should be around 2 mio Euros. So don't blame it on Valuev!
