Who Wins This Fight And How I Go With Marciano By Ko In 11 I Just Think It Would Be A War And Marciano Would Come Out The Victor In This War. Give Me Your Thoughts
Dempsey wins 10 times out of 10. Everything Marciano could do, Dempsey could do better and then some. Pretty much equel power, just as durable, better defense, significantly longer reach, better overall boxing skills, better mobility, faster hands, better accuracy. You name it.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MARCIANO HAD WAY MORE POWER THEN DEMPSEY AND BEAT THE BETTER FIGHTERS . MARCIANO WASN'T TO SLOW BUT WAS NEVER KO'D AND WAS STRONGER THEN DEMPSEY PLUS MARCIANO JUST HAD MORE DETERMINATION AND WILL . I LIKE DEMPSEY BUT I SEE MARCIANO KOING HIM IN 11:good
Better power? What are you basing this on? They both had freakish power, especially for their size, but I see no evidence that Marciano had "way" more power than Dempsey. That's arguable, honestly I don't know enough about the quality of their respective opposition to get into it. All I know is that Dempsey's opposition was better than a lot of people seem to think. Dempsey was never KO'd either, the first round knockout against Jim Flynn was thrown, he was only ever legitimately knocked down in two or three fights out of 80+. Again, I don't know what you're basing this claim on, Dempsey was never stopped, and he had more fights than Marciano. When Firpo shoved him through the ropes in their fight, Dempsey suffered a severe cut on his head but still came back to knock Firpo's ass out, brutally. Even in his fights with Tunney when he was past his best and getting outboxed he never stopped coming.
Oh, another thing that could play a factor. Marciano was more prone to cutting than Dempsey was. I'd have Dempsey by TKO around 6.
What he said. Interesting enough boxing experts in 1960 did a poll based on fighters they actually seen, and Dempsey came out way ahead of everyone, including Louis. As one historian once said, who are we to question those who had considerable boxing knowledge and actually saw both of them fight?
NONE OF THAT **** WOULD OF HAPPENED TO MARCIANO IN THE FIRPO FIGHT . AND MARCIANO BEAT JERSY JOE, EZZARD CHARLES, CARMEN VINGO, ARCHIE MOORE, AN OLD JOE LOUIS, AND PLENTY OF OTHER GOOD FIGHTERS NAME ANYONE OTHER THEN TUNNEY AND HE LOST TO TUNNEY TWICE
How do you know that? Firpo was a beast. He was big, strong, tough and he could punch. He was very formidable. How about Billy Miske, Battling Levinsky, Georges Carpentier, Tommy Gibbons and Jack Sharkey? And of course, Jess Willard, who outweighed Dempsey by damn near 60 pounds and was 6 inches taller. We all know how that turned out.
AND MARCIANO FACED CARMEN VINGO WHO WAS 64 OR 5 AND OUT WEIGHED HIOM ALSO AND WAS YOUNG AND UNDEFEATED
Well, good for him! I'm not disputing that Marciano was a great fighter, he was, but Dempsey has all the cards stacked in his favor. I've pretty much made all the points worth making, and the facts are all there, so you can go on believing what you want (Even though it's wrong).
IMO Marciano wins, he threw a higher number of punches, although power may be equal. Dempsey was faster but Marciano had a better defense (which is highly underated) and a more akward style. Possibly Marciano Ko's him but more likely he defeats him on points having the greater endurance and size advantage to tie up Dempsey and nullify his offense which was stand up, chargin aggression VS. Marciano's bending at the waste duck roll and counter defense/offense. Ironically Dempsey was the more gifted fighter but Marciano made up for that with rigorous training, ridiculous endurance, and taming his natural power with more patience and punch output.
Marciano wins... Dempsey might have knocked him down early with his ferocious pace but the Rock would've been able to survive that 1st round. The Rock would wear him down into the late rounds where he would have stopped Jack late... Remember Dempsey was KO'd by Fireman Jim Flynn in 1 round in 1917... So the Rock could've found his chin as well... Marciano KO via round 14...
The first round KO against Flynn was a dive. Dempsey threw that fight. HE was never stopped, his chin was just as good as Marciano's. I have no doubt Marciano could survive the first round, but what about the second, third and foruth? by the sixth he'd be hurting, bad, and the ref would wind up stopping the fight, against Marciano's vehement protests of course.
I'm with ya bro that Jack was a savage but I don't think he beats the Rock... Only chance he would've had would have been to tko him on cuts which could have been done, but as good as Jack was he wasn't as durable as Marciano. The Rock had more power, especially one punch Susie Q power. Jack was more athletic and had the the better skills and the faster hands but so did a lot of the Rock's opponents and he still found a way to knock them all out. Marciano had surperior cardio as well as more will to win, by which there's only been a few heavyweight fighters who even come close to Marciano in the will and determination category, (Smoking Joe, and Evander Holyfield)... This would've been an all out war one for the ages for sure. I do see the Rock surviving the first few rounds of punishment from Jack. After Jack's early assalt he would slow down and the Rock would slowly break him down until the end result which would have been a late KO of Dempsey. We'll just have to agree to disagree!!
