Cotto doesnt slip ****. For every punch he slips he gets hit with 2. The amount of highlights of Cotto's head getting rocked back in this fight are gonna be legendary. And he's terrible at both. His high guard sucks because he can easily be caught with upper cuts, and he's terrible at fighting off the back foot as manny steward alluded to. Sorry he just cant do it without being hit repeatedly.

Cotto's defence is not Mayweather esque but it is sufficient enough, he does square himself up up too much but on the whole his defence is okay its not spectacualr and its not shitty like you claim.

Well Cotto's style of fighting has a lot do with why he has taken punishment sometimes, but that does not = bad defence.

I think alot of ppl thought he wud be alot beta than he is but he is one of the top fighters in a tough welter division and one of the most entertaining. Its fighters like cotto that make boxing.

The thing with Cotto is............he has a decent defence but its ring generalship/stamina that is questionable see Cotto/N'Dou,Mosley, his questionable ring generalship gets him trapped sometimes, and it has him using up more energy moving because he does not navigate the ring well when he is backed up.

However his defence is pretty decent, he avoided plenty of shots against Clottey and Marg, he had problems WHEN he TIRED from not navigating the ring economically enough, his defences started to drop along with his punch output and lateral movement.

Danny_Rand, why is it he never showed any signs of a poor defence BEFORE he got tired against Margarito ?

The cut was a huge factor in why Clottey had a lot more success breaking through Cotto's defence than he normally would.

You know this is the truth. Like i said if you knew the intangibles of Boxing you would ALREADY know this.
