Phillips is no Clottey. :deal Cotto did well for himself to overcome adversity against a top fighter.

Tell me when feather fisted Floyd would cut and make a blody pulp someone he would certanly pot shot him in to a borring UD, a typical performance by this money waste fighter.

This money waste fighter would be busy giving your boy a boxing lesson and busting his face up with clean punches and counters it would be funny as hell. Cotto shouldn't come within 100 miles of PBF.

come on Pimp Williams is twice Verno Phillips size not to mention Phillips wouldn't last 5 rounds with either Clottey or Cotto in that ring tonight.

Why even bring Williams-Phillips into this? Of course he wasn't gonna run because Phillips isn't the puncher Clottey is and at 5'7" he can't overpower Williams.

Yea, when cuts are due to legitimate blows, then it's something the fighter has to deal with. Not when they are due to butts. Cotto could have opted to opt out of the fight much earlier when his lead was more evident due to the 1st round knockdown and we would have had a Khan-Barrera scenario in reverse, this time with the fighter who was cut (Cotto) winning. Cotto proved he's a gritty warrior once again, although in a lackluster performance.

Clottey proved that he is not a finisher and he was unable to go for the kill against a visually handicapped opponent. However, I think Clottey is entitled to a rematch and I do not believe his stock as a fighter was that much affected by this loss. I don't think Cotto deserves Pacquiao since his win was so blaaaah, despite a gutsy showing. I thinka rematch with Clottey, Mosley or even Maragarito should be his next step and leave Pacquiao to the JMM-PBF winner. :good

I agree Pimp, cuts do happen all the time. But often fighters lose because of them! Particulary when they are that big and occur that early in the fight.

So give props for Cotto for winning (slightly), against a BIG, STRONG dude despite the handicap.

Well, getting hit by illegal hand wraps will take out something out of anyone folks....

MArgarito should ahve been banned from boxing for life ..period and for all of you that aren't in agreement, then I say you guys arae the reason boxing has become a second tier sport ..this issue with MARGARITO SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLE CORRECTLY AND SWIFTLY TO SEND A MESSAGE THAT THIS TYPE OF ILLEGAL ISSUES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED....

sO SURE, margo took something for Cotto...but Cotto took something from Margo also..it was a brutal fight for both fighter...end of story

How much bigger is Willams than Phillips? How much of a reach advantage? Williams didnt have to really worry about getting hit by grandpa phillips. Not to mention the cut wasnt nearly as bad.

Expectations have been far too high. Cotto got a very good win last night. Close, indeed, but he made a case for victory, and that's not nearly enough for certain folks. Clottey was a known threat. Do you really have to ask? Cotto is not a superman and never has been. Barely getting past Clottey is an accomplishment for Miguel Cotto. Period.
