Quarry wins this one. He didn't have the tools Cooney had, but he had better focus and a whole lot more heart. Unless Cooney somehow scored a knockout, Quarry would have been in his face the whole night and would have outpointed him pretty easily.
And Quarry did win some fights he wasn't supposed to. He was supposed to be a victim to Lyle and Foster and Shavers on their rise to the top. Quarry was a well conditioned guy in there and I think he'll weather a storm and get the win. The guy I don't see weathering a storm is Cooney & once he got hurt, it'd be over.
A focused and in shape Quarry beats any version of Cooney, I`d bet the house on it although the first few rounds would likely be competitive and spirited until Quarrys class started becoming evident. Jerry`s footwork and counterpunching would win him the day against the lumbering oaf that was Gerry, and even Cooney`s vaunted left hook wouldn`t be enough to turn the tide if he lands as Jerry had a very solid chin. Jerry wins by late TKO, probably around the 11th or so would be my guess with the ref stepping in to save Gerry from further punishment.
