Had Cotto winning a close decision on a fight that should had been stopped earlier on cuts. That cut was nasty! Give props to Cotto for fighting with one eye for 12 rounds.
Seems like the most reasonable conclusions are 114-113 either way. Those who are scoring 115-112 are just dead wrong in my opinion.
Had 2-6 close as well as 10 11 and 12. The only ones that i thought were clear were 1 for Cotto 7 8 9 for Clottey. Cotto kept backing up and reseting but Clottey wouldnt throw when he should have. Cotto got lucky he didnt have a point taken away. 114- 133 Clottey Clottey complaining too much - no good Cotto fighting threw the cut instead of stopping before four - good stuff This could may well have been a deciding factor
Cotto just about eked out the decision on my scorecard. He took rounds 10,11 & 12 yo sneak it. I think it was more of a case of Clottey throwing away the fight as opposed to Cotto winning it. He showed no urgency in the championship rounds. I think Cotto showed a good chin throughout but he really got hit with too many shots. Every time Clottey threw an uppercut it landed. Props to Cotto for fighting through the discomfort of the cut from round 3 onwards though. He showed tremendous heart.
I had it 115-113 Cotto, close fight though, its frustrating to see Clottey in spots just go on the defensive I kept asking myself what is he backing off for and running from? Did Cotto buzz him on several different occassions or was it that he was hurt to the body or hurt his hand, it was sad to see that Clottey didnt do as well as I thought he would do, he did so much better in the Margarito fight than in this fight, but I guess that is becuase he didnt have to look for Margarito. Cotto fought a brilliant fight when you consider that he was cut so early~ Congrats to Cotto for the win, its not easy fighting a man that weighs 170 plus on the night of the fight.
