Holyfield vs Tyson, 1991

I watched Tyson-Holyfield I yesterday and by the time the fight started Holyfield's odds were 6-1.

The Tyson of '91 still had his timing and still had the 'bad intentions' in his punches. He was very badly faded by 1996 when they actually fought. But in 1991, Tyson would have handled Holyfield relatively easily.

 

Any more news or gossip about a proposed "Rubber" match between Holy and Tyson taking place somewhere overseas????? Rumors still seem to surface.......

I think the later 96 Holyfield was the prefect version to beat Tyson, he was bigger and stronger than the 91 version, he was smarter and knew he couldn't brawl with Tyson, headbutting from him was more common i guess as well.
Not only this, Holyfield in 96 had been in the shadow of Tyson, people still believed he was the man the beat and when he came from prison would reclaim "his" titles. Its reasonable to say that this effected Holyfield and that it pumped him even more from the Tyson fights, he knew one day the fight had to happen and was probably always anticipating it.
This wasn't as much the case in 1991 yes Tyson was still the man to beat but i don't believe Holyfield was as pumped and including other factors such as Holy being smaller, weaker and more prone to brawling i think Tyson could have edged this with a late/mid round TKO. But then again its a Holy fight and you can never rule him out!!
