From that ESPN Dan Rafael video, say Cotto went to Arum and told him he wants the fight when Margarito gets his license back.

What would a win do for each fighter?

Not as much as either of them beating someone like Mayweather or even Williams.

I thought Cotto didn't call out fighters, and left it completely up to Arum?????

Why didn't he go to Arum and ask if he could fight Paul Williams?????

    Nevermind.

Each one seems a little damaged and on the decline, so it could be a competitive fight.

I think Cotto DOES want a rematch..

whether its in his best interests to get one is another matter.. Or is that what you meant? :p

I think Margarito would win again, but I would love to see a rematch.

Fighting (and beating) Margarito would put the lustre back on Cotto's career.
His stock started to fall since the controversy surrounding the Mosley/Cotto outcome, then the Margarito Fiasco and now the Clottey fight.

He needs a convincing win over big name fighter!

We need to see what Margo has left against a B level opponent before he steps in against stiffer competition. The safest meaningful fight left at 147 for Cotto is against that other hypejob Berto. With his glass chin even Cotto should be able to hurt and stop Berto and thus make himself look like a killer again. He really needs to build himself up and increase his marketability after a string of unimpressive fights.
