One of the oddest developments in the wake of the Pacquiao-Cotto negotiations is the suggestions by Floyd Mayweather fans that somehow the fight will be an easy one for a pugilist who began his professional career at 106 pounds.

Not only is Miguel Cotto a legitimate 147 pounder, he is also apparently someone whom the Pretty Boy has found repeated excuses to avoid.

So, let's make sure we have this straight: A Cotto fight would be easy for the smallish Pac-Man, but the physically larger Floyd Mayweather has never been able to step in the ring with the Puerto Rican star?

    Hmmmm...

    Your thoughts?

umm yeah. We already know that PBF - Cotto was turned down by Bob Arum he said Cotto was too green at the time.

Mayweather called Cotto out when he was at 140 and 147, both times Cotto and his team claimed they're not ready. As soon as Mayweather retired they charged out screaming "HE'S DUCKING US".

cotto is no one to duck. At least not anymore. He was slow versus clottey and PAC will pit him down before 5. Pac is taking the easy fight by fighting cotto. He needs to get in there with mosley at 143 and the winner take the winner of pbf vs jmm if it still happens

The excuses sound great, until you see this from the article:

Leonard Ellerbe said to the New York Post: "I think Cotto is a good fighter who's definitely improving. His promotional company has done a good job in getting the right type of fights to increase his visibility. But he's still not there yet. The numbers don't lie. If

Thus, while Cotto may have avoided Floyd at some point, it also appears as though Floyd has repeatedly ducked Cotto.

Yeah yeah but it happened AFTER Floyd twice tried to get Arum to make the fight, while both were being promoted by Arum. But as usual facts dont get in the way of your story.

    .

That is, at one point Floyd supposedly wanted the fight, and then he got cold feet later.

Thus, Floyd can say he called Margarito or Cotto out at least once, but in reality (for the Margo bout, anyways), people in boxing knew that Mayweather wanted NO part of Tony.

    Weak.

This **** really pisses me off.

:|"But Floyd called Cotto out at 140":|

The thing is Cotto wants to fight Floyd NOW, so if Floyd wanted Cotto at 140 why is there a problem with Cotto at 147?

I agree. And if he's soo good like he says he is, why try and fight Cotto when he's green rather than fight Cotto when he got a little experience under his belt. That would make more sense because than the fight is interesting and no one can use excuses if Floyd beat him. Floyd aint stupid and he knows his limitations. He's good at fooling his fans though.

floyd is ducking cotto? and when everyone on here tells you that's just not true, umm floyd is ducking margarito? come on now...

it's ok if you don't like floyd, but get your facts strait.

At least floyd doesn't take stupid easy fights like Michale Jennings and Alfonso Gomez.

GUIDOKZ cotto barely by a razor thin margin. Got passed clottey and thats only because clottey gave away the last rounds. Out of all possible opponents for PAC, he took the easiest one. Cotto will be exposed for a has been his next real fight, just like margo did
