Do you believe that a true heavyweight champ will be crowned on June 20?

    I do.

I have said this before, but I would like to know how many agree:

The winner of Wlad-Chag IS THE champion. Valuev is obviously not the real WBA champ, as Chag won the belt in the ring.

I think most most of us still think belts should be won in the ring and not the board room.

More people find Vitaly's claim more problematic, and suggest that the brothers should fight each other. As much as I like Vitaly and am impressed by his comeback, I do not believe that he has any claim what-so-ever on being the champ. He beat a man for the belt that his brother schooled years ago. Again, just like witht the Valuev situation, only in modern day boxing does something like this happen. You might be able to consider Vitaly some kind of #1 contender for returning and beating Peter and Gomez, but apart from the tawdry and dishonest prestige of an alphebet soup belt, there is no co-claim to being champ here.

Wlad has bested Byrd, Peter, Brewster, Sultan. Chag has bested Ruiz and Valuev. There simply is not anyone else out there witha legitimate claim to being champ, and the winner of this fight is in my eyes the champ. Do you agree with me?

Might as well be. Vitali is old and the two bros will never fight.

I think if Wlad wins, he should be the true heavyweight champion, but if Chagaev wins, he has to beat Vitali aswell to be called the true heavyweight champion.

Should Wlad win, I would say he is the best heavyweight BUT

Vitali is still the champ in my eyes.

If Vlad beats Chagaev, he will have beaten the boxer who beat Valouev and is WBA champion really. Don King will not like it, but that's the way it really is. It is true that if Chagaev were to win he would have to beat Vitali to become true champion. HBO is so very stupid. They have egg on their faces.

No, for me there are still too many permutations for this fight to establish new lineage for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. As far as I'm concerned we'll still have men cynically defending straps until someone unifies the WBC, WBA and IBF titles.

If the WBA wasn't so ****ed up then I would agree. Historically I would have agreed.

Right now, it's wrong to consider them part of the lineage. They may never be relevant again.

    The answer is simple. NO!
True heavyweight champ will be crowned IF Wlad wins and then IF he beats Valuev and Vitali. As simple as that!

For me Wladimir is the champion by default; he has been dominating the heavyweight scene since early 2006, has unified, has beaten several contenders, etc.

i say yes, but like others, i feel that vitali is the best

i know, they sort of contradict each other, but that's what happens when brothers rule together, and the better one retires and returns.

who knows, maybe chagaev beats wlad and vitali avenges his brothers loss..... problem solved.

Wladimir IS the true champion already, this fight confirms it if he wins.

wlad is the champion after his win against ibragimov who was the next best thing to chagaev and to the klitschkos, wlad has cleaned up the division and the ring top 10 for years, vitali had not done that much. but if chagaev wins, then he has to fight vitali for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world

Some of you seem confused between deciding who the best is and how lineage is established. No way should this fight decide something as historically significant as the linear heavyweight championship.
