If the dark era of boxing is upon us than it must be said that there are two locations that serve as bastions of the sport's popularity of yesteryear. They are Germany and Montreal. The fights are major events, the purses are huge, and there are Eastern European pipelines filtering top fighters into both places.

anytime this sport starts to feel like it's eating itself(and the hw's are loking like they are) and the best fights aren't being made, go watch some of your local guys fight. they are getting payed ****all but they will die to put on a show for you!! on every card there will be at least one fight that will take you out if your seat. let the millionaires duck tough fights and hang onto meaningless belts, there is a dude training his ass off to fight in your backyard!!!

Imagine if Pac destroys Cotto and then he retires and then JMM retires and then Mosley retires and then Hopkins retires officially.

thank god for Donaire and JuanMa

I agree with the thread starter, boxing as a whole is starting to crumble a bit. In the 70's the Heavyweights carried the division, in the 80's it was the middleweights, the 90's it was both, in the 2000's neither, but of course the middleweight division aint bad. Though the stars that made it great in the 90's are on their way out Jones, Hopkins, and Calzaghe. And their replacements are Pavlik, Abrahm, and Dawson(Lt. Heavyweight).

I dont know, another Tyson is our only hope to boxing back in the mainstream again. And no, I'm not talking about Tyson Fury.

Go watch more local live fights, I would say 90% of the posters here have never even been to a live fight.

In the UK the sport is currently goign through a really bad time. It's actually quite worrying over here at the moment, you yanks have hardly got any boxing problems in comparison. Ah well.
