Just been debating this with a few of my friends on the outcome of this fight, with a few of us picking Lennox, and a few others picking norton, so ive placed them in what i think is there respective primes, which i think Lewis wins a close hard fought decision by working Norton behind the Jab,

Just curious on who would come out on top bewteen these to Heavy greats

It's hard to say, either man can win by stoppage for me. I'd go with Lewis if i had to bet.

I think Lennox takes him out. Ken would definately give Lewis trouble, but he tended to freeze up when caught hard, and Lewis definately had the power to freeze him up and finish him.

ahh cheers for your replys guys i thought lewis in his prime had such fantastic ring general ship, nobody could control a ring as well as lennox , such a powerfull jab with great accuracy, but ken norton , certainly had power and could of easily became in the fight if he could work his way into lennox and destroying his rhythm started landing on lewis, wht a intresting clash of era's and styles this fight would be

Lewis may just smash Norton early, a Mercer like fight isn't impossible but I don't think Norton stands up to Lennox's firepower too well

Lewis and surprisingly easy. Think of an ending like the Botha fight. Bam, bam bam, Norton is gone.

If Lewis comes out motivated, he should be able to blow right through Norton like Foreman and Shavers did.

If he starts out "lazy" or tentative like he sometimes did, it's possible we could see a pattern similar to his struggle with Frank Bruno, but eventually Lewis is going to land the bomb and Norton will crumble when he does.

    Interesting matchup.

Not an ounce of love for Ken Norton prime for prime against Lennox Lewis? History favours Lennox because Norton was blown out by the biggest punchers in the history of the sport, Foreman, Shavers and Cooney. Lennox has been the biggest heavyweight puncher for the past 15+ years, aside from Mike Tyson and David Tua.

Norton always had an awkward style that was difficult for Ali, but I was never one to favour that pseudo cross-arm, right hand low position that his boxing stance illustrates. Norton shouldn't have taken some of the shots that he did in his career and probably doesn't if he had kept his right hand up higher.

Lennox likely wins by KO if he doesn't underestimate Norton's overall ability. I could see Norton making this fight interesting for more than a few rounds, but I think Lewis' overall size and speed as a superheavyweight would be problematic for Kenny. Norton could win this fight and land some shots only if he avoids Lewis' big shots. Lewis can be beat when he gets lazy and overconfident. Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman both had Lewis out, and a past it Holyfield was able to land some huge shots against Lewis. The likelyhood of Norton winning is slim because he didn't employ the kind of head movement that his chief sparring partner Frazier used to avoid punches. Still, he is more than capable of beating Lewis, but Lennox is the clear favourite IMO.

Between the two Futch fighters, Norton would be an easier target than Frazier against Lennox Lewis.

I think this is still a mismatch, regardless of the time frames. Lewis was still making short work of top contenders in 1999, while Norton's chin and smaller size would always be his achilles heel.

If Lewis fought cautiously then it would be a close competitive fight however he could easily come out with a point to prove and take Norton out like he did Golota. I think the latter is more likely.

I agree that Lewis should win this fight.

However, I have the impression that there is too much emphasis put on Norton's supposedly suspected chin. As mentioned in previous post, he was stopped by some of the best hitters ever. If being KO by a prime Foreman means having a suspected chin....

Im going against all of you, i would say Ken Norton, take into consideration of the conditioning methods used in the old days compared to the new age conditioning techniques, plus add the fact that Ken Nortons era had "school of hard knocks" type fighters. Im not saying that the 90's didnt have talent, but i think most of the HW's would have beaten 90% of the heavyweight contenders.
