Any word yet regarding the outcoming of the protest lodged by the Grange Team. I understand that once this has been resolved it will be revealed how Derik Milham came to be appointed as a judge for this bout. Interesting write up by Qld promoter Angelo De Carlo in August edition of World of Boxing about this.
Phil said that the appointment of DM had nothing to do with the Mundine camp. Maybe Grange watched the fight again and thought choc won :yep I have not read Angelos write up but hes an interesting guy so I look forward to reading that one.
Phil said the tape has been handed to the IBO prezzie...Not sure how long the process takes but its in motion thats for sure.
Mundine rules out rematch with Geale BY SHELLEY SPENCER 23/06/2009 7:26:00 AM ANTHONY Mundine has refused to fight Daniel Geale again, even if the International Boxing Organisation orders a rematch. This would leave the International Boxing Organisation middleweight title vacant and Geale could fight in Tasmania to regain the belt. "There is gonna be no rematch 'cause I whooped his ass," Mundine said yesterday. "They're not going to punch the clock on me, I'm gonna punch the clock on them 'cause I am The Man. "Nobody tells me what to do." Geale's management filed an official protest with the IBO earlier this month following their title fight on May 27. The protest was based on four separate grounds - the appointment of judge Derek Milham, the failure of Mundine's corner to keep tape secured on their fighter's glove, an alleged failure by the referee to identify a knockdown of Mundine and the alleged intimidation of British judge Marcus McConnell. A panel of three will view the fight tape and decide whether there are sufficient grounds for the rematch being sought by the Geale camp. No decision has been made as yet. Mundine said that even if the appeal was successful, he believes he had easily won the title and does not care if he is stripped of the belt. "I'm a made man. I am the man everyone wants to fight, I am the man everyone wants to beat," he said. Geale's manager Bill Treacy confirmed Mundine would rather drop the title than have a rematch. He said Mundine's camp had played games in the lead-up to yesterday's meeting and in reality Mundine knew a rematch with Geale was too risky. "They don't want to do it 'cause they know Geale's going to beat him," Treacy said. "So we will be bringing Daniel down there for his next fight and (Aaron) Mitchell is the most likely opponent," he said. Mitchell, 39, has had 29 professional bouts with 27 wins - 21 by knockout, one draw and one loss. Geale's home town is Launceston and the Silverdome is where his promoters hope to stage the fight in September or October.
Geales a joke if he's prepared to fight a bloke who's 40 back in Tassie........... get your arse o/s and have a ****'n go
I just had to read up to the part where he said he whooped Geale and didn't bother witht the rest, same repetive **** dribbling, i don't wanan see mundine get Ko'd again (he wont because as usual he wont fight someone that has a chance to these days) i'd rather just see him get splattered by a semi.
Regarding Milhams appointment, I'm well aware of what has been said. I'm more interested in what hasn't been said.
Damn choc is really starting to lose his marbles. That and has lost any ounce of confidence he once had... All of this has Khoders foul stench on it...
It seems to be taking a while. Phil did explain the process, but perhaps not the time-frame. Needs to be sorted out quickly so as both fighters can plan their immediate futures. As for Mundine's informative comments - we all knew he got a fight and a fright from Geale, and wouldn't risk another one. ...heard it all before FIGJAM Man!
Any news you can tell us yet Phil...updates....goss? Your not still sore about the santa joke are you :hey
Was reported in todays Australian the IBO have lost/never recieved the tape so another two copies have been air expressed to the IBO HQ.
I dont care/am not interested in the protest all too much. Mundine has made it clear (not that we needed him to) that regardless of the outcome of the protest he wont fight Geale again. If the IBO orders a rematch Mundine will just vacate the belt. But even if they dont demand a rematch i think Mundine is going back up to SMW soon anyways, he cant keeping making the MW limit its taking too much from him... To me the only reason the protest matters is if its successful Mundine will vacate and Geale will get a shot at the belt against a high ranked contender right ?? Which works out well IMO because Solimans next fight is an IBO MW Eliminator and should he win we may get Geale V Soliman for the IBO MW title.
