Nah, you didn't understand the grandstanding thing at all. It was all in jest. He was talking to Roy and smiling and Roy was talking back and grinning through the blood. They were friends, and Joe was probably carrying him through to the final bell. (It's not as if Roy never granstanded). True, in his prime Roy would probably have beaten Joe. But there was never a day in Bernard's life that the result would have been any better for him. And since he was doing all in his power to delay the fight and invent low blows and whatever it took to make it to the end, Joe probably decided he needed a literal, as well as a figurative ass-raping.
C'mon guys: JC and B-Hop totally despised each other. The moment JC got on top, he just started rubbing it in. B-Hop had nothing left to answer him. And after the badmouthing, elbows, shoulder and headbutts he'd had to swallow, JC was in a position to show physical dominance. Don't doubt B-Hop gets angry every time he thinks about that fight. He will until the day he dies. For all those B-Hop lovers, that is going to rankle. B-Hop underestimated just how JC would react to his dirty fighting. WAY more aggression and equal amounts of dirt.
