I'd agree with that. Also consider that Lewis wasn't always a fast starter and that would be Mike's best chance since he always came out throwing.

This may be one of the toughest fanasty fights to pick. Tyson was a completly diffrent fighter in his prime than he was when they meet in 2002. I fell the best way to beat a prime Tyson is jab & grab. Look to score a late round ko rather than a decision. Lewis could easily do this. Tyson could be frustrated and may have had endurence isues but was a better boxer than given credit for. Winning a decision from him was more diffcult than it looked. I think Lewis is one of the few boxers that has a good chance of winning a decision against Tyson. Another key factor is Lewis's chin. How good or bad is it? Tyson will land clean on Lewis at some point in the match if His chin holds up Lewis could win. If not Tyson will win.
I have no idea who acatuly wins. Early ko I would favor Tyson. Late ko Iwould favor Lewis. Decision could go either way my instincts say Tyson by the narowest of margains. A draw would not suprise me.

I like Lewis as a fighter, but have to say there is no way I could pick the winner of this fight with any confidence.

both guys strengths match up with the other guys weaknesses. It really would be a case of tiny unpredicatable things in a fight making the difference.

This fight could happen 10 times and end 10 different ways. All I know is if this fight happened (of course impossible), I'd simply bet on the guy paying more than even money, because I think it's a real 50/50 fight.

id like to say if they fought back in the day when they where both prime..lewis would have been the first to buster douglas tyson..maybe lewis ko 10 over tyson..but i think buster douglas just had 'one of thoughs nites'..it would be a pick'em fight..lewis would jab..jab..right hand tyson winning on points are late ko..but then again tyson could clip lewis on the chin and maybe get a another early ko..i think its a true pick'em fight prime vs prime

Somebody on television, maybe Emanuel Steward or Teddy Atlas, somebody in the know, said that Lewis had sparred Tyson a couple of times in their amateur days and Lewis topped Tyson to the point where Tyson was intimidated by him. That could explain Tyson's leg biting pressconference before his fight with LL. I definitely favor Lewis beating Tyson at any phase of their careers. Lewis had the size advantage, the powerful jab and he defended himself from the left hook rather well. Plus, I think his rib-protector-jockstrap would have minimized Tyson's body punches.

Tyson would be lucky to take 1 out of 5 fights against Lewis.

Lennox is all wrong for Tyson: Huge, patient, cautious, great jab, excellent right hand power.

I think Lewis might lose the first few rounds based on Tyson's energy, then take over and dominate. There just aren't many answers for Tyson going up against an operator of that size and skill level.

Same problem with Foreman, who Tyson's people always were careful to avoid. The Buster fight wasn't Tyson at his best, but it wasn't a complete fluke, either.

Put a gun to my head and I'll go with Lewis.

    Why?

He fought up to the perceived threat level.

And remember, if people are going to be picky about what defines a "prime" Tyson, I'll take the same liberty with Lewis ;)

I think prime Tyson, that elusive phenominon, would utterly destroy a guy like Lewis. 1 round.

Tyson. He was just that damn good, mainly before he became a Don King fighter and mostly went head hunting.
