Do you think at any point we'll see Cotto backing up and/or "running" from Pacquiao in this fight?

I'd be shocked if it didn't happen to be honest. Cotto has gotten very adept at fighting while going backward (or running depending on how ya put it) so yeah, if and when Pac tags him he'll start doing it.

Yeah i can see it happening. If Pacs speed and own agression start to overwhelm Cotto he will start to fight on the backfoot. But Cotto has proved than he can fight well on the backfoot.

Cotto will def back pedal. The straight left will thread those gloves and shock the heck out of cotto, at that point he start to do the back run. but he does it in a manner where he looks for his opening, then he'll plant his left and fire the left. as long as MP dodges it, Cotto's back peddeling will hurt him more then anything

I have been wondering another thing lately. Should Cotto switch southpaw sometimes since he has shown he can fight from that stance as well? Will it be effective against Pac?

:goodpretty much exactly as i see it to. he will start backing early, after the nose breaks in the second, and try to use it to his advantage but pac's speed takes away his odds of countering so it'll just limit his offensive chances even more

No. IMO, Pacquiao will be the one who will take it safe.
I expect Manny to explore his leg's more than ever in this fight.

They will collide eventually tho, One MC knows what Pac bring's to the table
    (Punch wise)
He will either attack or decide "**** that" and like assumed in this thread... BOX.

But I don't expect to see a backward's style from Cotto against the smaller Pac.

see it's the legs that i see pac using to set up his attack. in and out, in and out like the oscar fight. cotto will occasionally make a rush to corner pac but with little success; instead he'll spend most of the fight backing up looking to counter

Good question. Against David Diaz, Pacquiao was able to unveil a whole series of extra dynamics to his game because of the positioning. He did things tactically some have never seen him do because Diaz was a southpaw. Just guessing, I would say that trying to switch against Pacquiao gives him more opportunities to do things you didn't prepare for. Cotto would have a similiar advantage in that sense - less so though, IMHO.

at first, Cotto will try to be the agressor, just like Hatton I believe his head will be filled with the "I'm bigger" mentallity. But, I also believe that MP will quickly destroy that thinking, when Cotto rushes in and eats that left, he will realize, he's not that much bigger. thats when he will beginning to respect MP, and a boxing match will be born, not a brawl.

Yeah, Pac did some beautiful stuff with the right hand in that fight.

Agreed. Though Cotto has shown that in the southpaw stance, he has a very good straight left hand but that would leave himself to open to Mannys right hook which is becoming lethal.

yes and then against Hatton he shocked the world with a vicious right hand. FM SR must have **** himself at the point.
