In addition to being blind to begin with, he must have been drinking shitloads of beer, because even the crowd's reaction should have been enough to pick a winner. Any other suggestions for this particular Hall of shame? edit: awful spelling error in the thread title. Maybe someone can fix it.
Double click on the thread title in the main forum, near the letters, and you can rename it. Yeah, it's funny that the judge from the UK not the other two from continental Europe did the awful job. I guess Germany can say, 'hey, we didn't do anything'.
Thanks buddy. Well at least my fellow countrymen cheered for the right guy and not for this cheap Ivan Drago clone. Boxrec should put up a list of judges like Paul Thomas, because his scorecard is unbelievable. Even Dimitrenko's promoter must have had goosebumps.
As Teddy Atlas has suggested, when they have a judge scoring really off in a fight, there should be someone (like a committee) to investigate how they came to such conclusion. It doesn't make any sense how someone paid to do a job that requires to have good judgment and some common sense can really screw it up, especially when there are thousands of other spectators who aren't trained, yet they are able to make better observations and sound judgment. This only can be one thing: they were paid by another party of interest or simply had a personal bias or interest that would have affected the scoring.
Paul Thomas is a decent ref, but he's another one of the "Terry O'Connor" and "Dave Parris" Frank Warren refs, what do you expect?
This, of course, is one of boxing's biggest problems. There isn't "someone" - no governing body. The sanctioning body/bodies could do it (and probably should, even if just for the "good for the game" press is would create), but there's probably a nasty triangle between them, the dodgy judge and the promoter. As long as promoters have influence on sanctioning bodies (clearly they do), these people seem to be able to find work. It really is an embarrassment to the sport.
