On review I'd say round 7 as well. That round not only ruined Lacy's career, it adversely affects his life every day. Very very tragic and TOTALLY INCOMPETENT corner.

if i had been the referee i would have stopped the fight at the end of rd 7.

on the night i remember being up on my feet and shouting at the telly for the ref to stop it at the end of that rd. :yep

disgraceful that he got a beating like that. :patsch

The 7th or anytime after. Good thread btw just the bit in the middle of Joe bashing ruined it. I remember watching it and thinking how is Lacy still standing and how the ref didn't step in either. One of the most one sided beat downs i have seen in boxing.

Some guy tried to call it a schooling this was way worse than any thing people consider schooling

I remember seeing the destruction of Lacy and having a very real sense that I was wittnessing history. And I hate Calzaghe!

I doubt people would have compared the Lacy and Cotto incidents had the corner stopped the fight.

    Vazquez was pulled against Marquez
    Penalosa vs Lopez
    Malignaggi vs Hatton :-(

Those are totally different to the Cotto incident. Even then, whilst he did quit technically, it wasn't as if he did a Gary Lockett and begged his trainer to stop the fight whilst being 100% coherent, he was out on his feet and had taken (and was taking) plenty of punishment.

    What on earth?

This beating was incredibly one sided. Cotto-Margarito was a good tough fight.

    Which beating?

If you are referring to Lacy vs Calzaghe then yes, I'd have to agree. That's my point - the three cases above were lesser beatings where the losing fighter was pulled out, in fact Vazquez vs Marquez I was close.

You think lacey's corner was bad. What about Eubank/Watson II. Why on earth did Watson's corner send him back out? The referee had to more or less drag him to the middle of the ring, whilst he quite clearly didn't know what planet he was on. Then he just ran away to a corner and covered his head.

I often wonder what might have happened had his corner pulled him out at the end of the 11th and sent him straight to hospital. That IMO is the worst corner behaviour I've ever seen in a boxing ring.
