i was there when groves got the decision against degale...im no fan of degale but he got robed....groves been put down a few times in the ams by travis dickens.....he never boxed with a low left in the ams ...high guard....since he hooked up with haymaker hes boxing with a low left.
It's a very close fight. I wouldn't have been surprised if degale had got the decision but wouldn't call it a robbery by any stretch. Its on youtube if you want to watch it again. Personally I scored it like this: Round 1 - Groves Round 2 - Degale Round 3 - Even Round 4 - Groves But the first and third were very tricky and I've only watched them once. What does everyone else think? As for the left hand. It seems like its a deliberate change for the pros as you suggest. Personally i think it's a good thing for him. He looks like he's settled into the pros with this style a lot better than Degale has so far. Degale doesn't seem to have changed too much so far. Still early days of course.
DeGale has looked as good as any of the amateurs. I don't understand the fuss. He's one of the few that hasn't even been punched yet, and he shows good footwork and excellent counterpunching in his last fight. He didn't stop the first guy...but neither did Sutherland really. The ref pulled him out over the longer distance.
I personally rate himI thought he was too easy to hit in the am's BUT he's changed a bit since then to be fair to the lad..He's improved without any doubt since going pro!! Be good to see how he goes over the next 12 months cos I know David & Adam will wanna step him up ASAP!!
