Right, there were three fighters who achieved a champion status at crusier weight who were KO'd by Vitali Klitschko. Hide, Norris, and Gomez.

This is not going to help SuzieQ's theory.

What makes you think that Haye has a glass jaw?

At this stage I think that his chin is a bit of an unknown quantity.

I would venture to say that it is clearly not glass based on his career at cruiserweight.

It might yet prove to be not good enough to cut it at the top of the heavyweight division but it might also prove to be not bad enough to save anybody. There have been a lot of fighters throughout history who had questionable chins that wernt bad enough to bail you out.

Also fighters chins dont always get worse when they step up in weight they somtimes get better. Same with their power.

I feel Haye would have had a better chance against Wlad than he will against Vitali. Unlike his brother, Vitali has a very sturdy chin and has never shown any inclination towards panicking under pressure. Haye's combination of speed, power and dynamicism is something Wlad hasn't encountered since Sanders- which isn't to say he couldn't handle it, but that it could be interesting. I don't really see the "puncher's chance" and "fast, dynamic style" effects coming into play so much against Vitali; Haye will actually have to try and outbox him, which will be extremely difficult given Vitali's physical advantages and Haye's own questionable whiskers.

Thats how I see it too.
Wlad maybe the more talented Brother ,but he is also the most vulnerable ,imo.
I doubt Haye can stop Vitali ,but I give him a shot against Wlad.

Great posts. You make a great case for Wlad being the easier opponent. One could argue because he's vulnerable, he'll be easier to beat. While I agree with this, I think Haye can outwork Vitali with his speed to a UD.

Haye's got the best chance of anyone I've seen out there. He looks to be miles ahead of all heavyweights I'm seeing at the moment. But, in spite of that, he's an untested product in the division. How well does his power translate against other heavies ? Is an old Monte Barrett really the best gauge of it ? He's been knocked out once by a sub-200 pounder. How does he react when a 250 pound man who's been tested against one of the best heavies ever (and came out looking not too terribly bad) ?

The question for Vitali is: how does he handle the speed of Haye ? Age may be a factor, but, let's face it, did Vitali really rely on speed even five years ago ? Haye may exploit the slower brother, but I still think Klitschko has enough left to fight him off.

I'd expect Haye to give him a tricky fight but to ultimately succumb to Klitschko's power.

I go no more overboard on Vitali than those who claim he is a top 15 heavyweight of all time. I am a firm believe size is not everything, yet many here disagree. Some of those who disagree are huge vitali fans. Therefore, if Vitali loses to yet another cruiserweight, they will be forced to change there opinion on "Superheavyweights" being better.

Gomez was 36 years old and overweight when he fought vitali. Orlin Norris was also thoroughly far past his prime when he fought vitali. Gomez looked slow as hell in there, he would have been much better off coming into the ring at 210lb.

Gomez is a large man. He stands 6'3" and has a 80.5" reach. 230 pounds is not too heavy for this type of frame. Gomez weight in this fight was maybe 5 pound heavier than his average weight at heavyweight. It was not his high weight either. Since 2004, Gomez average weight per match has been around 228 pounds.

As soon as Vitali KO Haye, I predict SuzieQ will attempt a character assination on Haye to limit ( in his mind ) Vitali looking good.

This is the orthodoxy here and I don't entirely agree with it.

While Vitally certainly has a better chin than his brother he has not tested it against nearly as many punchers or ranked oponents.

I wonder if perhaps Vitally's chin is not the monolith it is somtimes made out to be, and if it isn't this fight would provide a good combination of circumstances to show it.

I also suspect that he perhaps panicked a little when Corrie Sanders had him under pressure.

Finaly if father time is going to catch up with Vitally this would not be a good moment.

Haye is going to have a lot harder time with Vitali than he would have with Wlad. Unfortunately it will make everyone assume Wlad would have beaten him if Vitali wins.
