What was JMM's weights for the weigh in and on fight night for his last few fights any-one or how do I find out.
OK I just saw the info on boxrec, however I don't see anything distinguishing between weigh-in weight and fight night weight.
yep. that was his fighting weight during his most recent fight. i think he weighed-in below 135 for that fight. 134 1/4 to be exact.
I am trying to be open minded in relation to the upcoming fight between FMJ and JMM. If the catch weight is 144 then He can legally come in at 144 right? While FMJ will definately have a weight advantage(I don't dispute this fact) but will JMM really be affected by the weight. Maybe I should have made the the thread title. However, most times than not boxers have to go through some struggles to make weight, in this case JMM would not have that struggle he could just come in at 141 like you said he did against pacquaio. Does anyone see my point??
not really. Fighters are used to cutting weight and have been doing it since they are kids. Its not an advantage for Marquez that he doesn't have to cut the 5 pounds that he usually does to make LW.
I think you have a point. Outside of fighting, fighters probably gain a few unnecessary pounds. Getting back in shape and making weight probably goes hand in hand. In that case, even though I am a Floyd fan, then I would deem the weight a significant disadvantage for JMM.
jmm hasn't ever fought weighing above 141 during a fight. now, he has to fight at a catchweight (weigh-in) of 144. sure, he has a significant size/weight disadvantage vs. mayweather. also, coming in at around 144 during a fight will negatively impact his speed, activity and stamina. gaining lbs in fighting weight is a gradual process which is not the case w/ jmm who is doing it in a very short period of time. even pac has only gained a lb or two in fighting weight in the last 2-3 years.
Even if JMM comes in weighing 141, it's not like Mayweather is going to come in at 155. Mayweather will be around 148.
Adding weight in a proper manner can keep speed, add power, and not impact stamina or activity. Well considering Marquez has had since May to prepare for this, it's not a short amount of time.. He'll have like 4 and a half months of prep time. Easily do able as long as he's not pushing himself to weigh above 150 come fight time.
