Well, I think I can use it to seperate the honest critics from the moronic haters. Mr Magic is not only a moronic fool who can't keep the facts straight, he also just made my ignore list.

So, do you think you are being fair and honest when you totally ignore the circumstances surrounding those fights, and just level criticsim for the sake of criticism?

Lockett just didn't turn up for the fight. I think Pavlik had him the moment they stood facing each other before the bell. Sad way to fight a title match, already beat before the first punch.

Was that around the same time Joe was calling him "washed-up" in his book?

Nice post man. You just made redneck boo's ignore list. Boo is a child and acts like baby when you dont agree with him. He is a keyboard warrior and has no life.

Actually the book was awhile beforehand. It was in January '08 on Sentana that Joe said; "Roy Jones was a good fighter, but he's not a good fighter anymore."

Can someone confirm this chain of events? I wasn't following boxing very closely then. If this is so, it's very interesting indeed.

    Great post, applause!:happy:good

There are many threads about it. One poster, MasterCalzaghe was so disgusted with Ole Joe he pretty much said so and hasn't been seen much since.

Arum picked Frank Warren from the airport for the Lockett fight and they pretty much had a deal hammered out for the JC/KP fight.

I don't think you can hold the Lockett fight against Pavlik. Other than just being a mandatory, He was coming off a brutal stretch run against guys like Zertuche, Miranda and Jermain Taylor twice. If anybody was due a bit of a respite, it was him.

You can't really fault him for Rubio either. After all Mustache WAS the mandatory (and he did earn it with a very close win over Enrique Ornelas) and on top of that, Pavlik was coming off a bruising loss to Bernard Hopkins. A get me over fight which also cleaned up a mandatory.

Now with no mandatories currently set out...it's time for Kelly to dive into the pool and swim without getting wet as one would say.

It's very true. I tell you what else was REALLY fun in the lead up to Lockett fight....was Jack Loew and Enzo were fighting with each other like crazy! A few of us were almost more interested in what Jack and Enzo were gonna do then what Pavlik was gonna do to Lockett.
