If someone sweeps the tourny winning five straight in dominating fashion, I think top ten at least pretty hard to argue. To then beat the Andrade-Bute winner and maybe move up and take on say, Pascal - would solidify top five NQA.
I believe they're scheduled to meet in one of the three preliminaries. Realistically you'd need one to go undefeated and the other's lose to only have been to the first. Given that, they could meet in the finals and the bout could probably get sanctioned for the Ring belt. I suppose it depends on how Bute performs in the meantime.
Well they would have to actually fight but that might work. Don't know what's Froch's fights after Dirrell.
I'm just wondering since two titles are involved. Their 'regular' criteria might not work. Let's say someone beats Froch and then meets Kessler in the final. You still have two belt holders. I guess it would depend on how quickly they update the listings and IF they consider the exclusion of Bute a non starter.
The fights are months in between. The Ring will update in concordance with the results. IMO if Taylor losses to Abraham he should get out of the top 10 or be at no 10 tops for example. Too bad Lucian will not have decent opponents after Andrade.Pavlik or Green at the best.
With so many of the top guys tied up, do you think it could potentially increase the chances of Bute/Pascal?
If Andrade wins the rematch with Bute and, say, Kessler goes 5-0 with 5 KOs to win the tournament, who is the undisputed SMW champ? :think You honestly going to tell me in that scenario, that there isn't one?
Yeah, it's probably the deepest division in boxing and all of the fighters are top ten guys. Winning five fights in a row against that type of competition would be very likely to heave oneself up the P4P rankings. Besides, look at the bottom half of most top ten P4P lists now anyways. Everyone generally has Pacquiao, J.M. Marquez, Hopkins, Mosley, and Williams in their top five (assuming R. Marquez and Vazquez have been taken off). After that, you've got a lot of guys whose resumes aren't so great as to be beyond supplanting by the winner of such a tournament.
Not really no.At least not in the future.Pascal has to fight Branco and Diaconu again in his next 2 fights. Altough both parties having Don Majesky as an agent might increase chances. Indeed it's Kessler then. Yet I don't think that particular scenario will happen.
