Fair enough, but you acknowledge that it could feasibly, yes? Kessler is probably going to be the betting favorite against everyone he faces in the tournament; and Andrade was about, what, five seconds from winning the first fight? :yep Oh - and just curious, why does Pascal have to fight Diaconu again within 2 fights? Is that per the sanctioning body or is that your opinion of what he needs to do to stay on top? I think it was a pretty clear win that didn't really necessitate a rematch (though I certainly wouldn't mind it). Also - Bute/Pascal is a dream fight but since I don't see Lucian moving up or Jean moving down any time soon I'm not holding my breath. Perfect time for it would have been 2007/8.
I agree that in that particular scenario Kessler would be the champ. And myself I'm going for Kessler to win this thing but no way he gets 5 KOs in 5 fights. And yes Andrade was a few seconds short of a victory.
Say Kessler wins, by beating Taylor, Froch, Abraham and Dirrell. You don't consider that better than the achievements of the guys in the current Top 5? Considering Kessler was said to be on the verge of a Top 10 ranking at the time of the Calzaghe fight also, Hopkins has retained his Top 10 ranking despite the loss. Same with Abraham, if he manages to beat Kessler, Taylor, Froch and Dirrell, he'd be way above anything anyone who wasn't named Pacquaio or JMM had done.
He'll blow Ward to bits in my opinion. Ward hasn't had the serious challenge in his career, Miranda doesn't qualify for that. Lets face it, if Dirrell and Ward weren't American, they wouldn't even be invited.
No, but they will have (if they go unbeaten) 5 top quality wins in the deepest division in the game right now. Two of the current top 5 fighters are barely fighting (Hopkins and Mosley), and on top of that at least one (and possibly all) of Pac, JMM, and/or Mayweather will probably be retired by the time this tournament ends. By that point in time, the winner will have as good a case as anyone else fighting for a top 5 spot.
No one else is competing in a way where you can say "They're the man of their division" It's not like the situation where JC who cleaned his division out is happening at all, that was enough to get him to #2 P4P. Even in the case of Haye, he didn't clean CW out to become disputed, he won two fights to do it.
Leon will tell Green to wait for the tourney winner and call him out and then find a reason not to fight him. I doubt Bute gives Green the time of day now.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/boxing/2527869/Things-getting-sixy-for-Froch.html Calzaghe apparently was going to enter but Showtime didnt submit to his demands of another 6 man league of Tucker Pudill, Veit,Salem, Thronberry Starie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooMdGA1UimY I think Direls only chance is to score a KO early. I dont see that happening
