In Manny's case however, he is explosive and skilled, so the scenario I proposed may not apply to all smaller fighters, but I think it does apply to him. His power and speed seems to have been successful in stabilizing the bigger fighters.

Pac looked his absolute best in years against Diaz and Hatton. Where he weighed in at 135 and 138 which should show somewhere between there is his best weight. Even in the Hoya fight as good as he looked he didn't have the same pop.

I know - but this post says that now Pac is pushing for 143. If that is accurate, then I think they're asking for too much.

heavyweight?! at this highest weight class, even a small 210-lb heavyweight fighter can already have enough punching power to KO a 250-lb one. that certainly doesn't apply in the lower weight classes.

STFU. If cotto accept the fight so it will be fair. why do you think cotto will take the fight then?

Yes but the concern is not that the smaller guy may or may not be able to knock out his opponent. It's whether or not he can take the bigger guy's punches. Jones was not going for a KO against Ruiz, he knew he couldn't KO him. He was trying to win on points, and avoid getting hit too flush.

True! But there are few fighters like PAC who have been able to defy seemingly common logic. Floyd, Leonard, Duran, Robinson....those guys were able to do the same thing but those talents and special fighters who are small make up less than a percent of all the boxers to have graced the ring. Manny seems to think he may have hit the "WALL" in terms of how much his body can take and still be effective in moving up. Which is why he's talking about a lower weight than Roach seemed reasonable at 145.

I agree with you on that! Cotto may not be able to make that weight. 145 YES! Without a doubt but 143??? That is a BIG unkown and not worth the risk in my opinion. 144 is still a big question mark for Cotto which would be 2 pounds under what he came in at for Josh.

true. that may even be pac's strategy vs. cotto kinda like what he did in the dlh fight @147. but pac can still win this via punch accumulation if he lands flush and often enough with his speed, accuracy and workrate, just like in the dlh fight. but like you said, pac also has to avoid being hit flush by the much bigger cotto.

you certainly won't see a 2-3 round demolition here like @140. i don't think pac has enough pop to do that north of this weight class.

I completely agree, unless Cotto somehow lands a flurry of devasting shots. I think Cotto has the power to end the fight quickly; but Pac will need to wear him down, punch accumulation - just like you said.

Well if Cotto doesnt get Pacman then what money does he get and who does he fight.

And you call me the moron. Yeah im sure Cotto made a killing fighting Clotttey.
Cotto taking 40% will make more than he will fighting Pacman than he would taking 60 to 65% against another Welter.
Yet you think Pacman needs Cotto. Pacman will still make great money fighting ****ing Bradley. Plus it doesnt worry Pac i feel the only thing that worries him is he only wants guys that maybe have a chance to beat him.

Which i find is going to be a tall ask.

I see Pac beating not only Cotto but JMM and PBF. The only guy i feel Pacman may struggle against is Mosley for some reason.
