    Phil,
Now that the smoke has cleared and a decision has been made regarding the protest, only one more task to complete.
I'm hoping that you will, as you stated about four weeks ago explain how Derik Milham came to be a judge on this bout.
The ball is in your court Phil.

    Hi Julian

When the bout was first put together, Derek was suggested as a judge for the bout to have someone there to keep the WBA happy as no supervisor would be allowed to attend and the International title he held was one they wanted to keep to keep their WBA mandatory alive and I felt it a good extra avenue for advancement for Gealey if he won. Derek held no other office anymore other than a ref and judge and he had previously voiced an interest to me to become an official of the IBO. I felt him a good addition to the ranks due to his experience and contacts in the Asia Pacific region which would be good for us as well. I have known Derek for 14 years and he was my mentor throughout my 'apprenticeship' and knew that his scoring would be beyond reproach as the only thing that could possibly suffer would be his reputation if he came in very wide of the mark and favouring one fighter. I spoke with Derek at length, was happy with his viewpoints and relayed my recommendation to Ed. Derek's CV was looked at at length and his appointment was approved.

The IBO were happy with his performance in the fight and many including one close to Geale's camp that I spoke to believe he was spot-on on the night (that's always up to interperatation of course in a close fight), I was happy with the way he scored the fight and many in here have stated he was spot on. Why do you feel I owed you an explanation? I had briefly before the fight outlined the reasons why I had him appointed and there really is no need for me to explain any further than I had but I hope this settles this for you. I do not believe I had any 'task' to perform nor did I owe you any kind of explanation - especially after questioning my credibilty. I did say I would not comment any more until after the protest had been settled and I have kept my word on that but don't bother asking me anything else

I believe I have done more than any other official would - I don't believe anyother would have posted protest results nor kept fan forums up to date on what is going on. I do it because I believe fans who truly love the sport need to know these kinds of things but please don't think these things are done as a task - they are done as a courtesy and nothing else

    Thanks guys

Look I am not after pats on the back here, I just got a bit peeved when told I had a 'task' to do! Sox the beauty of a forum is each can have their own opinions, I might not agree with you all the time just as you with me - we don't have to! Diversity is what makes the world go round - just look at Perth Krank! :p

Actually Ash' I'm starting to worry about an invite to a person's house who is pre-occupied with interior design! Good on ya though - if it's good enough for Emille Griffith it's good enough for you I say! :p

Hey PHIL, question for you please:

There's talk of Mundine fighting Rob Medley shortly, and prior to any mandatory with Geale. Is it possible for Mundine to defend the IBO title prior to the mandatory defence taking place?

I would think so, as long as he defends by the due date.

What if he loses it to Medley in the mean time Leon? Then it's not his any more to defend.

By the sound of that report Geale is into the idea....Mundine VS Medley on the Geale vs Lyle card....build interest in the Geale VS Mundine II.

I bet Geale would have a clause that Medley will agree to fight Geale if Mundine gets beaten
