Who cares if catchweights are not to your liking? Boxers make fights, not you. If they agree to fight at catchweights with the title at stake, who are we to object? :patsch

actually, whether the title is on the line should have absolutely nothing to do with contract negotiations between the two fighters. If both fighters are ranked, the santioning fees are paid, and both fighters come under the division weight limit, then the title should be on the line. Its not like if Cotto doesn't make weight, he will be stripped of his title. a catchweight stipulations between the two parties should have no bearing on wether the title is on the line. Its got nothing to do with the sanctioning body.

Well, you can stand on the treadmill with the rest of the sheep if you feel that way.

Me? I love this sport with all my heart. So I'm going to make as much noise about this bull**** as I can and hope that at some point somebody listens.......

Actually, thats not true. Say for instance Cotto came in at 146, which is one pound over the proposed 145 limit. If a new deal was not made to go forward with the fight, Pac would have no legal obligation to fight, and Cotto would be in breach of contract which would result in the commission issuing him a suspension for failing to make weight (if the fight fell out). Depending on the length of that suspension, he could be stripped of the title by the sanctioning body.

Get rid of catch weights and let the flyweight champion fight Valouev?

That's because your fighter isn't being asked to come down in weight. Most of you Pac fans don't see the stupidity in your own argument because you love your hero so much. If Cotto only has to lose 2 pounds, and it is only TWO pounds...why should he have to lose two pounds, and put his title on the line with 8 ounce gloves...if it's only two pounds? Two pounds will not kill Cotto, and if Cotto comes in at 147, he'll be 160 by fight time. ****in Pac fans lol...

better yet, how about the flyweight fights another flyweight champion, or maybe even a jr. bantam champion, instead of attempting to fight in a division that even he himself says is too big for him...........

    just a thought.........

or maybe its perfectly ok for the flyweight champion to challenge Valuev at a catchweight of 160. (for Valuev's HW title of course...) LOL

The only reason you care about this catchweight is for Pac to win an unfair title.

What if Medgoen Singsurat were a strawweight champion asking Pac to come down to 108, and Singsurat was the draw lol...

Norris didn't have trouble making 151 against Taylor, Chavez or Pea had no trouble making 145, nor did Hop or Pav have trouble making 170, and Hop and Dlh had no trouble making 156 or whatever the weight was. It is well documented that Cotto starved himself to make 140.
