im only 21, got into boxing through watching tyson. the guy was all action. although he gets overrated every now and then, he brought an exctitment to the ring. thats why hes the most popular fighter alive after ali.

 

It will always be a classic,Robbi,thanks bringing it back,especially when someone mentions a name from the past that brings back great memories.

...when i listed my top five i may have been too influenced by my belief that these were also the fighters i thought were the best in their divisions. after some musing and digging into my memory i should put johnny bratton in their somewhere. much too erratic but on a good night he was a marvel. i saw him fight more often than i did my favorite lightweight, so, relucantly, i'll put bratton in place of ike williams. again this is just a a guy i really loved to watch....williams was the superior fighter.

I'm pretty biased towards the 70's ish era, for me the best in boxing history. One day i'll have large canvas prints of all of the four above fighters to go with my Monzon one. My list changes all the time though, you could throw Arguello and Benn in there but i'm sick of watching them now.

My favourite fighters aren't necessarly the best, I just like them and watched all of them fight. With the exception of Ali I lean towards fights who get in the trenches and fight, as opposed to slick boxers. Just makes for better entertainment.
