Joe Calzaghe is a great fighter for his time, but he fought in a weak era in terms of competition. Hopkins and Jones would have schooled him, prime for prime. Comparing Ali's level of opponents to Calzaghe's is like comparing the quality of a Formula One Honda racecar to a factory built Honda Civic. There is no way, shape or form that Joe Calzaghe beats the Ali of 1964 - 1967 or the Ali of 1970 - 1974. The only Ali that Calzaghe has a remote chance at beating, and only by decision is the Ali that was stopped by Larry Holmes. The Cleveland Williams that fought Ali in 1967 would give Calzaghe a good beating as well. Does Calzaghe beat Frazier, Foreman and Norton, two of which gave Ali his toughest fights from what you're suggesting? Honestly, I fear for Calzaghe's life if he ever stepped into the ring with any of the above three in their primes. Foreman would just mercifully put him away inside one round with a big right, while Norton would show him punching angles that a geometry book couldn't explain to him. Against Frazier, let's hope Smoke doesn't decapitate him the same way he did to Bob Foster, because it would be a very ugly ending for Calzaghe. Kosaras, like Joe Frazier once quoted about Jimmy Ellis, "you can build a car out of a truck, but you can't build a truck out of a car." Calzaghe is NO heavyweight puncher, and no amount of chin that you think he has, would save him against Ali and his toughest opponents. By the way, no disrespect to you, but to think that Calzaghe could take a 15 round decision against Marciano is the source of some real good material for an Eddie Murphy standup routine. Don't talk about Liston vs Calzaghe, because your signing Calzaghe's death sentence if you do.
Joe Calzaghe was a great fighter but greatest of all time I wouldnt say so he was in a weak era and didnt fight that good of competition. I think if Calzaghe wanted to be the greatest of all time he should have moved up to 175 while James Toney and Montell Griffin were in the division and tested himself and then maybe fight Roy Jones Jr. Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones is a hard call because Joe's fast hand speed and Jones quick reflexes. Calzaghe was an elite fighter Eubank, Kessler, Lacy, and the disputed decision against Hopkins has proven that but out of all of these names only one is a sure shot hall of famer. But we cant say that hes the best of all time if he hasnt been tested and Roy Jones Jr. believe it or not had been tested early in his career and his clean victories over Toney and Hopkins have to be landmark achievements in his career. Joe Calzaghe was great but greatest I seriously doubt
Tyson: Takes Tyson's best shots early on and bides his time until Tyson slows down and finishes him off with a late round stoppage (Tyson's stamina is not great). Holyfield: Outboxes his him to a decision. Calzaghe would have a very hard time stopping him, but workrate would be key. Lewis: Tough fight, Calzaghe would have to get in on the inside, but I do see him again outworking his opponent to a decision, possibly even a stoppage. Wlad: (See Lewis).
Joe Calzaghe is a great boxer. When he was a lad in the Welsh valleys i saw him doing his early running. He was like Usain Bolt i tell you. Then i saw him in the gym and he beat up everybody. Joe Calzaghe has never been beating he is the GOAT. I have never seen a better boxer. Joe calzaghe has a great defence and he hardly ever gets hit. His offence is made up of hard accurate shots with his blurring hands. The greatest ever Boxer is Old Joe. The Welsh Wizard as i call him. Why all the Joe hate? He is the greatest looks who he has beaten. Bernard Hopkins Roy Jones Jr 2 of the greatest fighters in the sport today and ever and Joe calzaghe beat the crap out of themhe out boxed them and out fought them.
U should get yo ass whopped real bad 4 saying something like dat,DIS PROVES RIGHT HERE THAT CALZAGHE IS THE BIGGEST ****EN FRAUD IN THE HISTORY OF BOXING!!! THIS IS RIDICOLOUS!!! SO ****EN RIDICOLOUS!!
Calzaghe at least would be comparable to a prime Hector Camacho. He certainly wouldn't win a round agaisnt a prime Jones.

I challenge one actual boxing fan to come up with a logical reason as to why Calzaghe is not the greatest......(saying he is a Euro will not do Yanks!) When you watch Calzaghe fight its pretty clear he is the greatest........his resume maybe just slightly worse then SRR and Ali, but I think his skill and ability in the ring clearly bridges this disparency, I have seen no-one at Calzaghes weight come close to his speed...in addition to him have the greatest chin of all time, best stamina and the smartest fighter I'm just glad as a Brit we have the GOAT........makes being a British boxing fan that extra bit special you know.
