Some say that it was a robbery and B-Hop should keep his title. I watched the fight today and had it a draw. How did you score it? My scorecard: Hopkins - Taylor I 1 9-10 2 9-10 3 9-10 4 9-10 5 9-10 Taylor cut from a headbutt, close round 6 9-10 7 10-9 impressed by Hopkins defense 8 10-9 close round 9 10-9 close round 10 10-9 11 10-9 12 10-9 114 - 114 SD for Taylor seems to be not bad decision, he took the first half of the fight and could steal some in the second. No robbery for me.
I really can't remember too well, but i thought i had the first one for Hopkins and the rematch for Taylor, but i really don't recall too well.
I don't remember what my scorecard was, but I sensed that Taylor had built an early lead that was too much for the punch-conservative Hopkins to overcome. Same thing in the rematch.
It's a fight that shows they should score more 10-8 round where one fighter dominates the round without a knock down. Talyor won the first half of the fight but the rounds were a lot closer than the later rounds that Hopkins won. Round 4 round a close fight maybe a one point win for talyor. However it seems a hard way to loose your title when clearly Hopkins was the better man that night. - another round or two and he would have stopped Talyor!
no way jermaine taylor won rounds 7 and 8. this was a robbery. Hopkins easily took the last 6 rounds, and won at least 1 of the first 6. I had it a clear 115-113 hopkins. The judge who gave taylor round 12 should be put in jail.
A robbery with a scorecard of 115-113? I think Taylor easily won the first 6, and one of the last 6. :good
I heard Emanuel Steward say something to the effect that Bernard looked like the better fighter in losing his decisions to Taylor. I know exactly what he meant. I scored the fights for Taylor while watching them, all the while thinking Hopkins looked better.
I thought Taylor beat Hopkins but that Hopkins showed he was a better fighter. Styles make fights though and at the age of 40 facing a fast-handed fighter who keeps his distance and packs a good punch is never a good matchup.
Hopkins was looking into a mirror when facing Taylor. It was smart of Taylor to hang back and somewhat confuse Hopkins. And Hopkins wasn't sure if he wanted to press the action or stay put and play the counter-puncher. He done the later until he finally woke up over the second half of the fight. Hopkins sure never learned his lesson throughout the rematch.
Definitely a fight I place in the 'who gives a **** who won' category. Neither man deserved it. One of the worst high profile title fights of all time. I could easily be speaking for the second fight as well.
