Beau Jack hands down. Jack lead more cards in the Garden than any other fighter. Thats more than Louis, Armstrong, or even Ike Williams can boost.
duran had alot of big fights at the garden. won the lightweight title agianst bucanaon, dominated palimino and davey moore at the garden
Dick Tiger probably deserves a mention. He was certianly the home fighter at the Garden for his duration at the top. Why is a thing that's always puzzled me a litte bit...
I think Beau Jack is a good answer. Zivic said Jack was the fastest fighter he ever faced. They fought at MSG twice. Jack won the decisions, but they were fairly controversial. Strangely enough, when both were inducted into the Hall of Fame in the same year (1972), Zivic got more votes. Funny thing, Zivic was also a huge draw at MSG. To this day, his rematch dismantling of Armstrong remains the highest ever attendance at MSG: 23,190. At one time in the 1940s, Zivic drew larger average ten-bout attendance numbers at Madison Square Garden than Sugar Ray Robinson. Still, I think Jack is the right answer.
Yeah, that's right enough. Robinson failed to report a bribe around the same time but was allowed to walk with a big fine.
Duran's breakthrough win was at the Garden against Benny Huertas, then months later he was back against Buchanan to win the lightweight title.
Robinson got off easy, while Rocky got hit hard. Yep other case that shows that race was a issue lol.
I see people say Ali was robbed of his 3 years and they blame race. I can say, that Dempsey, Marciano or any other white champ would have been punish just like Ali did imo.
