Prime Tommy Morrison vs. Prime Michael Moorer

I'll go with the stock answer for any fantasy fight involving Morrison: he loses by kayo.

 

The fight ends in a KO!!!! Morrison the faster starter early or Moorer if he gets out of the early rounds mid to late!

 

..........michael moorer would knock out tommy morrison........morrison had a lot of trouble with yuri vaulin and joe hipp..........michael moorer was a a- fighter compareded to hipp and vaulin who were c+ fighters..........being a southpaw with a power jab ...i think would give morrison tons of trouble..........the fight would end up in a tko or ko.......but my pick would be michael moorer in 6 or 7 rds....

 

Your mention of Morrison-Vaulin, a, brings to mind a funny incident with my with partner in a boxing team, trainer Tommy Gallagher:

Gallagher trained Yuri Vaulin, a tall, light-hitting Russian cruiserweight.

Vaulin was matched with Tommy Morrison, who was on track for a title fight, in a main event on national TV. It was supposed to be no more than tune-up for Morrison.

From round one through four, the Russian surprised everyone, out jabbing and out boxing Morrison.

The crowd and Gallagher sensed UPSET -- the big money for Vaulin was in grasp.

Suddenly, in the 5th round, Morrison caught the Russian with a left hook to the body. He crumpled to the canvas and couldn’t beat the count.

The TV announcer jumped into the ring and shoved a mic in Gallagher's face while he ministered to the Russian.

"Tommy, Tommy, your kid was so close to being a contender. What happened?"

"The cocksucker quit!" Gallagher said, coast-to-coast.

 

Morrison, early-mid round TKO.

 

I remember that fight...Vaulin was doing very well. Until he 'quit'.

I was undecided, to me there is not daylight between them, but upon reading some of the posts put forth, I tend to go with the consensus here.
Moorer by stoppage or knockout, probably mid rounds.

 

That's probably the right answer.

Personally, I'd probably favor Morrison, who I feel was more talented and well-rounded. However, Moorer's left-handed stance may throw an equalizing ****** wrench into this.

 

No way Morrison was more talented than Moorer.

 

Why not? He had better legs and maybe faster combinations as well.

 

Better legs, as in nicer looking? Moorison couldnt fight 12 rounds to save his life, unless its against the swinging heavybag George Foreman. Morrison threw a lefthook and what else? Moorer actually had a decent jab, could hook well off it and threw a pretty mean uppercut. His biggest problem was that he fought a style not condusive to being a heavyweight. He fought flat footed and liked to stand in against his opponents trying to block and roll punches. Not a good style if you cant take a good shot. Thats probably what you meant about his legs, and while Ill agree it probably wsnt a good style for him as a heavyweight, he had better overall boxing skills.
