Is Pac ready for this????

I like Cotto but I am starting to think that he lost his edge when he lost to Margarito. In his last fight Cotto had a great comeback but he does not look the same anymore. Loaded gloves or not Margarito ate his punches like as if they were nothing. I still hope he wins because Manny belongs below 140. However, this fight with both fighters at their peak I pick Cotto by KO.

I hope that Pacquiao would fight @ 145 or even at 147 against Cotto. Pacquiao will beat him even @ 147.

 

with both in the same video, you can clearly see pacs flurries are really fast while cottos were welltimed, scary powerful, but slow. even in some slowmos pac still looked almost normal speed while cottos looked nearly 2x slowmo. altho i prefer pac-floyd or pac-jmm before this fight, this fight will still be interesting to watch.

 

haha.. just teasin my man. I actually would not hesitate to post this bulletin myself. My gf is 100% Boricua and I truly understand what Cotto means to Puerto Rico, as my gf's aunt is a close and loyal friend of Miguel's. Story of my life, anyway with that said, Cotto indeed has all the tools to defeat Pac.

Cotto has been battle tested and approved, fight after fight in recent years. Clottey, Margo, SSM, Judah, etc.. war is no stranger to him. He's been rocked, he's shed blood, and expect once, he's come out on top.

What I am afraid for Pac is: altough he has been fighting big names, he has not been in a war as of late. Not since JMM 2. Maybe shot exchanges and blood might be an uncomfortable change of pace for him.

Another factor is Cotto's size and strength (not that it's a new issue to pac) but also that he is used to fighting a bigger/stronger class of fighters.

And the list goes so on and so forth. But I do believe you ask a legitimate question. And I wonder if Pac is ready for a fight.

Pac on the other hand, if he stays elusive and uses his footwork as he good as does and not absorb too much punishment, will always be dangerous for Cotto.

If Cotto can work his body, pressure Pacquiao intelligently (not like Hatton), read and time pac's awkward movement to the same degree as JMM (which he can because Cotto is a smart solid boxer with good balance), and most importantly decrease the mobility and punch output of Pacquiao by wearing him down. Cotto should have the upperhand in the later rounds.

Nonetheless I personally believe Pac will take this by stoppage before the latter rounds (probably bc he has no choice).. because he has too much speed and pop, energy, and movement.

Also im afraid the best weapon for Cotto, the counter straight right hand to Pac's 1-2, is not a predominant forte in Cotto's arsenal. Being that Cotto's strong hand is his left and that he is a converted orthodox fighter (although he does switch every in a while). So a straight right might not deliver with the full strength and accuracy that Cotto possess in his left. Actually, contrary to what I just said, this counter was most effective against Pac when he used to heavily rely on his 1-2, but Pac has been downloading new effective combos at different angles to his library since he has grown as a better boxer, so perhaps this right straight counter may not be as effective as used to once upon a time. Who knows.. anyway..

Most fighters have trouble timing or developing a rhythm with Pac (like Hatton, DLH, Diaz), and if Cotto can figure that out and/or survive Pac's early onslaughts until Pac fatigues.. then the world is within Cotto's clutch.

... and as much as we all try to project our thoughts and predictions based on our interpretations of past events, only time will really tell.

I am not a bandwagon lover or hater. I love raw talent, aggression, boxing skills and intelligence, and the whole multitude of elements that compose this sweet science. And these elements have no race or color to me.

I am flipino, 100%. And my excitement and respect for both fighters in this potential match up, likewise.. 100%

By popping up this video, you think Pac won't be ready? The fact that Pac chose Cotto over Mosley (at least, initially) would mean he is ready to beat this guy Cotto who had lost a step. He had shown signs that he got destroyed by Margo. I won't surprised if Cotto won't last six rounds against Pac.

Like I said, the difference between Cotto's punches and Pac's punches is like the difference between getting hit with a Truck at normal speed and getting hit with an F1 race car at full speed.

 

Have to agree on that, 145-147 or no fight IMO
