True, but B-hop was boxing during prison. I'm pretty sure he won an all-state penitentiary championship or something.

    Hasim Rahman-20
    Nate Campbell-24
Marvin Hagler, Chris Eubank and Winky Wright-16
    George Foreman-17
    Deontay Wilder-19/20
    Jose Torres-18
    Larry Holmes-19
    Kermit Cintron-18/19
    Glen Johnson-20
    Earnie Shavers-22

I've heard Sonny Liston, Ken Norton and Nigel Benn were late starters as well but not sure what ages they were exactly. Ola Afolabi is supposed to be another one too.

Was about to mention him. He started AMATEUR at 28, one year later he turned pro. Thats as late as they get.

I'd be far more interested in a list of the guys who started late (early/mid twenties at least) w/o any amateur experience. :think

Tarver started late because he was sandbagging beating kids in the olympics.

you should do some fact-checking before posting something derogatory like that. Nate has NEVER been to prison. He was working full-time supporting his family until he started with the amateurs at 24, and then turned pro a month before his 28th birthday............

date of professional debut doesn't matter.
what late starting means the day he went gym and laced up gloves first time.
almost of all boxers everyone mentioned had competed in amateur since he was young
and most of them are between heavy divisions.
youth is not absolute element in heavy divisions, it's why those average age is older than lighter divisions.
what really hard is making same success in lighter division for late starter.
