If he beats Valuev then goes on to fight one of the Klits afterwards, will you all apologise for calling him a coward or will you just go back to saying he doesn't deserve a shot at them cause he ain't earned it ?
Most of the haters are just casual fans, mate- they can't see sense and don't want to. I wonder what they would say if Holyfield was in Haye's shoes facing the same absolutely nonsensical, disgraceful demands. The Klits are the ****s here. Cue the Hayeters......
I will not apologise. Here's the reason: if he is truly that sure in himself like he claims to be, he should consider a fight with Vitaly more beneficial. Beating Klitschko will mean him way more money than beating Valuev. He would get more afterwards against Valuev too, not to mention possible rematch with Vitaly or Wladimir. The fact he turned the fight down itself proves that he is well aware of his limits and that he has no chance against Vitaly Klitschko.
There's a curious, essentially homoerotic devotion from the Klitschko fanbase to their beloved idols. I respect Wlad & Vitali, but their demands - if portrayed correctly - are worse than the sort of thing Frank Warren has long been heavily criticised for.
Wrong. Beating either Wlad or Vitali on the contract offered meant peanuts. He was to get no gate receipts, and no actual purse. His money was solely from UK PPV sales and he was then contracted (should he have won) to fight 2 more bouts in Germany against either of the brothers. Beating Valuev with a proper purse and UK TV deal, will earn him far more and he will then be in a position to offer Wlad a unification fight with far more bargaining power to secure a better pay deal for himself.
Haye made a amart business move but has let his fans down...again. So, no need to apology for anything. Even the hardcore Haye fans should acknowledge.
Its true his purse offer was a bit of a p!ss take. However considering he is totally unproven at heavyweight (beating Barrett doesnt sudenly make him a title contender) i dont see why he should have expected any large share of the income for this fight. Moving up a division, and then getting an automatic title shot, is in itself, a huge "gift" almost. He hasnt earned his shot, he hasnt worked his way up the rankings. The fact he got a title shot in the first place should be sufficient for Haye to accept the fight, even if its on crappy financial terms, because, lets be honest, he shouldnt be fighting for a heavyweight title.
That is all fair enough. But it is rather irrelevant whether he deserved the shot or not. Wlad was happy to fight him, so presumably they thought he was a name worth fighting. Whether you, me or anyone else agrees or disagrees is neither here nor there, the fact is that a contract that stipulates you get ZERO cut of the purse, the ticket sales and that you are then legally bound to fight a further two times on their promotional ticket against either of them is a farce. He signed it. He got injured. Wlads team say he was injured, you don't see Chef or any of the guys from Wlads team saying Haye ducked it or was lying, you hear that solely from cretins on message boards pontificating on a subject with nothing but biased conjecture. Wlad then fought another opponent, which is fair enough, he deserves no criticism for that. So the contract was null and void. A new negotiation begins for Vitali and Haye, the exact details of which nobody here knows. But Haye says it was awful to the degree that he wouldn't sign it. His crime is then to sign a contract with the WBA Heavyweight Champion and to go and fight him in his backyard under his promotional company. And if he wins that fight he is a belt holder with FAR more leverage in any negotiation with either Klit brother. I have no doubt that Wlad wants to fight him and wants to KO him and I have no doubt that Haye wants to fight Wlad. If Haye beats Valuev (and IMO he will be the first person to stop him) then I am very confident that Wlad-Haye will happen around April 2010.
How does it mean nothing? By that basis beating any heavyweight other than one of the Klit brothers means nothing. Rather sums up the dreadful state of the division that the Klits rule then doesn't it? Considering that the Haye hate bangwagon said he would be starched by any genuine Heavy, then top 20 Heavy, then any top 10 Heavy; I would say that winning a bonafide world title from someone who is patently one of the "top five" of the **** awful division means quite a lot. It means Haye is one of the top 5 Heavies. If he stops him it means even more.
Because there are no decent American's to love. Besides, he is white and most Americans are racist so would prefer him to a black American anyway. Other than that, I haven't a clue.
So true.:good Lewis had the same **** to put up as well- I wonder how these guys will react when Haye beats Valuev? 'Oh, he iss the worst champ and Haye is cherry-picking'. Then he beats Vitali and we hear 'yeah but 5 years ago it'd be a different story'.:-blood
Strike, you are banging your head against the wall with this one mate. It's a clear valid reason but people just cannot or will not see it. I must have read your explanation at least 5 times.
