You have gained some respect from me...Not because you agree with me, but because like me and many other FANS that one fighter isnt above boxing or whats best for Boxing. This is a bad precedent to be set, and the fact that the WBO is on record as saying that would make it a title fight is horrible, I know that the will fail if they try, but to even say it is bad enough. If Pac was so confident then why not just say screw it lets fight at 147 or keep your belt I want the fight at 145. You cant have it both ways.

 

i think so too that pacman should of just fight cotto at 147 to shut the people up and if he really wanted his legacy to be great and unquestionable. i can see and do believe that he can beat cotto on that weight anyway.

 

This is a mega fight, and WBO wants some piece of the pie...you know how this corrupt organizations work...either way, they will get something unless cotto abandon that belt...

 

What are you talking about? Cotto has the option. He can either sign the contract or not. That's a clear option. Isn't it?

It's gonna be a bigger loss for Cotto than Pacquiao if the fight doesn't happen.

 

It seems Pacquiao is afraid to fight at 147. I don't know why he cares about the WBO title anyway.

 

I don't think a title would add a lot more to this fight but Cotto could force Pacman to come up to 147 if he chooses. Either way, I hope nothing stalls the fight and that we get a superfight we need.

 

Of course he is . . . he is not a 147 pounder . . . the fact that he is willing to fight at 145, it should already be appreciated.

 

Pac is already giving 5 POUNDS up to Cotto. Why should he give another 2 pounds? He's the P4P Number 1 for ffs.

Why is Cotto getting all the advantages here??? If he wins he gets the world at his feet, HUGE HUGE HUGE fights against Mayweather, Mosley and Marg AND he gets legacy.

What does Pac get out of this fight? The title. He can make money from any other fighter he fights at the moment.

Pac's best weight is at 140. Cotto's best weight is at 147 (or 160 if you count his bloating on fight night). So they meet in the middle. but due to Cotto saying he couldn't go below 145 (as said by Cotto's nutricianist, who would obviously say that as he trying the get the most advantage for his man AND most importantly is on the payroll of Cotto.) they had to meet at 145.

It's a fair fight. The belt is on the line at a weight which the fighters have BOTH agreed on and which is WITHIN the WW boundries.

Get over it and enjoy the fight.

 

Afraid to fight at 147? Why? What are you talking about? If the fight was at 147 Pac will be giving up 7 pounds from his best weight.

Why, as the P4P Number 1 should he give all the advantages to Cotto?


You would not see Hopkins, Mayweather or De La Hoya giving up advantages do you? They have respect for themselves. Pac has asked a fighter who sometimes weights in at 160 fight night to weight in 2 pounds less. That's not exactly having all the advantages is it?

145 isn't going to make much difference. Cotto can still come in at 157 fight night and Pac will be 147/8.

I am at the point where even if Pacquiao loses, it's ok. especially against tough comp. I just don't like the idea that in the future, boxing will become too flexible in its traditions that it will bend to the whim of the biggest draw.

Im really starting to hate Pac for the same reason I hated Margarito...his fans. Oscar wasnt shot, he was weight drained, hence the reason Pac and his trembling trainer made sure it was in the contract that for every pound he weighed over 147 he was fined 1 Mil. Same thing they are doing to Cotto. Cotto and Oscar are the ones actually putting something on th eline by agreeing to Pac's terms. If Pac wants to fight for the title hes gonna have to drop his terms and go up to 147. If he wants it at 145 and the one million per pound in the contract, he can go **** himself and his little *******s.

That's the weight limit but WBO rules say the WW title fights can be held up to 147, not at 147. Check the rules, amigo. :deal

 

I actually dont think Pac has balls. I think Pac and Roach believe Cotto is done or fading and can exploit something. Its kind of like Roy Jones jumping up to heavyweight and fighting the weakest heavyweight champion. Id like to see Pac fight Bradley, Torres or Holt. An actual live,prime light welterweight instead of fighting a welterweight at a catchweight, adding a clause that he has to pay 1 million for every pound over and for the welterweight title? Thats a joke. I dont care if Pac came up from 50lbs,100 lbs or 106 lbs. If he wants to fight for a welterweight title, he needs to fight at 147. If not, stay down at 140 where there is a lot of talent and competition...not to mention titles at non catchweights.

The catchweight and 1 mil per pound clause is a cheap tactic for Pac to win a title fighting a possibly weight drained welterweight at a non welterweight limit. One that they believe they see a possible weakness that they can exploit. That doesnt make Pac great, it makes Roach a con artist but a really good manager and business man.

 

jokes aside hudson, we should be happy that pac got balls to even pursue cotto.

1. one he is conceding already 5 pounds above his best fighting weight and probably 12-15 pounds come fight night.

2. this is cotto's biggest payday, why should we fault the guy for accepting it. remember it was he himself and his nutritionist who said that 145 is ok.

3. this is a great fight between to proven ring warriors.

why are you making so much fuss about it when the catchweight is precisely to even the playing field.

pac will come in 147-148 during fight night. cotto will be somewhere at 160. how can pac be such a ***** when he goes up the ring as the smaller and lighter man?
